Oct 5, 2003 A peppery spiciness in the aroma. Looks great although a rather small head with modest lacing. Taste is not quite robust but very satisfying. There is a good toasted malt and bittersweet chocolate flavor, with a medium- bodied mouthfeel. Crisp, slightly bitter finish.

Oct 5, 2003 Has a strong roasted malt aroma. The taste is lacking up front, but makes up for it in the back. A very good porter for the price.

Sep 27, 2003 This beer pours with a very nice head, and looks very inviting. The head lingers through drinking the entire glass. The aroma is of dark chocolate, and malt sweetness. However, the taste leaves much to be desired. Espresso is the most evident flavour, with a hint of cocoa, with no perceptible sweetness. It feels very thin on the mouth, rather like an ale would. A slight hop bitterness helps the finish, but this porter does not compare to some I've had before. This is the second tasting of this beer for me, with similar results.

Sep 3, 2003 Dark reddish body, small tan head, sweet roasty nose with dark fruits. Tastes like prunes. Yes, prunes. I like it, though.

Aug 27, 2003 Lovely, sparkling clear ruby-colored beer. Large, rocky, khaki-colored head. Excellent, thick, cascading lacework.
Interwoven coffee, chocolate and vanilla aromas.
Bold taste. Very well-bittered to balance out the chewy, roasted malt. Strong coffee on the tongue and in the throat. Some pungent hops thrown in the batch as well. I also detect some smoky undertones.
Full-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and moderate carbonation.
Short, toasted, dry finish. Very satisfying!
There's a lot going on in this brew!

Jul 26, 2003 Deep brown/ruby colored. Nice light tan head and moderate lace. Nose of roast, coffee with hints of chocolae. Medium bodies, nice roasty and coffee flavors, some sweet chocolate nuances, minimal hopping. Smooth, tasty porter.
