Commercial Description:
Appearing almost black at first glance, Wild Goose Porter is actually a deep ruby-red ale. Roasted malt flavors accent its velvety finish.

Poured from bottle into pint glass. A blackish color, but some dark red tint as mentioned. The head was small and a creamy off-white color, but was gone quickly. The aroma was roasty malt, with some nuts, caramel, and maybe chocolate; touch of earthy or grainy hops. Taste was sweet and bitter mixture, some sourness beneath. The beer was sweet and creamy tasting, with only low carbonation. It had a moderately dry finish and was a touch oily. Perhaps my first porter beer, and I was pleased with this local brew.

Very handsome - reddish brown with a thin but lasting head. Toasty toastedness tickles my tongue. Nutty taste as well. Palate has a nice backbone (that came out as it warmed). Aroma-wise has a coffee bean aroma

12 oz. bottle via trade with decaturstevo - Pours a clear dark brown color with a 3/4 finger thick light tan head. Light spotty lacing. Aroma is roasted malt and chocolate. Flavor is much of the same. Has a slight fizz mouthfeel. Light to medium body. Could use a little tweaking, but very drinkable. Thanks Steve.

12 oz brown bottle. Pour is really dark almost opaque with lots of foam action within – pretty! The aroma is debonair, with hints of chocolate flavored nestle quick mix. Very nice darker tan head, may even be approaching the color of chocolate mouse. Impressive hardy first taste that fades to something a little more inquisitive. Its interesting roasty malt bite fades to a genial flavor of beer. A short mild bitterness accompanies the finish. Almost as good as Yuengling black & tan.

Bottle. Pours bold red mahogany with nice looking beige head. The aroma is a bit roasy, and gets maltier as it warms. The flavor is also roasty with some caramel and nut hints; ashy toward the middle, and a nice, bitter hoppy finish with dry aftertaste. Tastier than I was expecting.
