Aroma has hints of pine needles, rotting Berkshire leaves, fresh orange juice, tangerines, and my grandfather’s den. Apparently made with four different kinds of hops. Reminds me much of other good Christmas ales I’ve had in England. I’m pretty impressed. Will look for more from this brewer. Dark amber look to it. scraff (1954), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 27, 2004 Sparkling cola colored ale, creamy khaki head. Nose is light with toasted caramel, marshmallow, milk chocolate, some coffee, with some slight grain notes. Flavor practically matches aroma, is well balanced, and has a nice hint of hops to round this off. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi-dry toasty finish. A very nice session winter brew....

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 27, 2004 Brown color with hues of orange when held to the light. Caramel malt, light peat and hint of hops in the aroma. Heavy and robust are a good start after the first swig. These apply to both the flavor and the palate. Very roasty and touch fruity in flavor. Lacks much of a linger aside from a mild hops bitterness. Thanks to DocLock for sending this my way. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 19, 2004 Nice golden brown pour, fair tan head. Sweet malty aroma has a bit of musty earthyness to it and some notes of hops and spices. Flavor seemed very balanced nutty if anything with some kind of different tartness. Finishes mildly bitter and a bit dry. Not bad.
