RblWthACoz (959), Brooklyn, New York, USA Feb 12, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a small tannish head. Mild nose with wood and caramel tones. Flavor is nice, but seems to lack a good enough balance to knock it up a bit more. Has a slight tangy edge that is just a touch too much for me. Feel is nice with the carbonation. This is a nice drinker. Went well with my homemade gumbo.
radiomgb (1711), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jul 2, 2008 Clear mahogany in colour, lingering but thin beige coloured head, patchy lacing. The aroma is of red liquorice, quite sweet with some nail polish remover. The liquorice continues in the flavour along with a sugary sweetness, light spice and perfume. Sweet mouthfeel, medium/light body, medium carbonation. Finishes sweet, quick.
This one was weird. Didn’t really care for the liquorice or the nail polish remover. Never got into this one.

mcox90 (302), Wilton, New Hampshire, USA May 17, 2008 12 oz bottle courtesy of Coldbrewky. Pours a light brown caramel color. I was a little sloppy with my pour & ended up with a huge angry head. Malty nose with some floral hop. Mildly carbonated with a bit of body to it. Flavor was malty with mild spice. A little bit of hop background. checkmatei1 (222), Willow Grove, USA May 5, 2008 bottle: Poured a dark brown color. The aroma was cloves, pepper, citrus and maybe some basil. The flavor was good, sweet malts and spice. Overall, an awesome winter beer. bfeldmann (966), Wilmington, Delaware, USA May 2, 2008 Poured a dark brown color with okay head and some lacing. Aroma was very very malty not much to balance it out. Flavor was lots of caramel malts some nuttyness to it hops as it warmed not as well balanced as i wanted. coldbrewky (458), Saugerties, New York, USA Apr 27, 2008 Updated: Apr 29, 200812oz bottle. Pours a burnt sienna in the chimay glass. Small white head dissipates.
