Commercial Description:
As deep and dark as the Moscow Nights and strong enough to warm the Czar's tootsies even in January! Based on an 1880 Whitbread Triple Stout recipe - the era when British brewers were in hot competition to sell strong beers to the countries of Northern Europe.

12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with jake65. Pours dark brown that allows light pass through along the edges, with a moderate light brown head that disappeared after the first sip and left no lace. Pleasant aroma of sweet malt, raisins and a bit of rum. The flavor is basically cardboard and lacks any of the fruitiness or malty sweetness promised in the aroma. Dry, bitter finish. Imperial stouts are my favorite style. This one was disappointing.

Some light coffee and chocolate in the aroma. I found this to be good as well. Sweet, some bitterness and thick stout flavor. Seems a tad underrated to me, but whatever.

Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Smells of sweet malt, raisins. Tastes of bitter astringent hops, chocolate, roasted malt. Unbalanced.

Pours an amber brown with thin tan head. This impy just LOOKS thin. Aroma decent of roasted malt, ever so slight coffee, and not a lot else. Flavor is surprisingly a little better than I was expecting, but nothing special. Finish left something to be desired. Not my cup of tea with so many better stouts and impys available.

Bottled. Poured clear medium-deep brown with a lovely initial cap of beige head. The aroma was sweet and rather candy-like with chocolate and caramel leading the way.. mild to moderate roast to it.. molasses joined as it warmed up. The flavor had some tangy citrus notes and soured black malts (not really sure what was going on).. caramel and chocolate again at the core with mild smoke and herbal accents as it went down.. long not-too-pleasant finish. Medium-bodied with an uneven flow across the palate.. this was both too sweet and too sharp at various times.

Draft @ Wild River Brewing and Pizza Company, Medford, OR. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma with hints of molasses. Sweetisg roasted malty chocolate and coffee flavor with some hoppy hints. Has a roasted malty chocolate finish.

Deep brown pour with no head. The nose is molasses sweetness with some chocolate. Sam ein the flavor. Too sweet.

Pretty sweet aroma of chocolate and some dark fruits. Some light sour qualities are there too which come across as a little vinous. Pours dark brown with not much. The flavor is more sweet cocoa and chocolate cake mixed with some sweet/sour dark fruits. The body is pretty thin and the carbonation is low.
