oakbluff (225), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Sep 28, 2008 One litre bottle. Appearance- pours very dark with ruby highlites. Minimal mocha head. Nose- chocolate malt and stale cherry. Taste- sour cherry and chocolate milk powder. The components- (cherry and porter) don’t seem to mingle well. The cherry is upfront and dies off quick leaving a thin bodied earthy cocoa flavoured flatish ale. mabel (1662), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 31, 2007 [789-20071102] Tap @ Wild Rose (Calgary, AB). Chocolate dark malt aroma. Dark brown black body with a small quick off-white head. Generic fruit flavour has a "sour frame" of cherries. Thin full body. Interesting but not overly cherry. pintbypint (881), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Nov 24, 2007 1L brown swingtop bottle. The beer is dark brown with chestnut highlighting. Head is a light creamy tan layer. Aroma has strong caramel malt component but there’s also light black coffee. Flavour had mild fruitiness, coffee, caramel and chocolate malts with a light cola-ish sweetness. Finishes with some roasted malt and light earth. Light bodied, low carbonation. Would have liked more cherry character, but enjoyable as is. Label states 6.5% abv. mds (2111), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 7, 2006 Bottle. Pours a dark mahogany body with ruby tinges and a small white head. The aroma has some subtle fruitiness (cherry, raspberry) and caramel. Light, thinnish body with creamy cookies and caramel flavour. Decent but there isn’t much depth. tupalev (2311), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 3, 2006 Bottle courtesy of R, shared with many fine folks on Canada Day ’06. Dark brown/black, small white head. Very mild aroma, some cherry and chocolate. Really nice taste - rich black forest cake like. Medium mouthfeel. Totally achieves the cherry/porter mix that so many I have tried like this fail at, I found this to be rich and enjoyable. Probably one of the better wild rose beers I have had, well done guys.
