Commercial Description:
Wild Rose CZECH PILZ is an easy-drinking brew with a beautiful straw coloured hue. Crisp, clean and refreshing, this lager has been crafted to satisfy. With a distinct hop aroma and flavour, Wild Rose CZECH PILZ is sure to make you question what you may think a real Pilsener is all about. Wild Rose’s brewer has cleverly added a generous blend of Saaz and Hallertau hops to Canadian Prairie malts to create a pure and natural European-style Pilsener. With strong character and wholesome beauty you may just want to pick up this bubbly blonde and take her home. According to Wild Rose Brewer, David Neilly, Wild Rose CZECH PILZ is like “citrusy hops frolicking in a freshly harvested haystack.” His reasoning is that “this Pilsener is smooth and clean, yet distinct because of a generous dosing of Saaz hops.”

In short: An bohemian pilsner with a strong herbaceous plants character. Very nice.
How: Bottle 500ml swing-top. Consumed fresh a few days after receiving it from hobbersr. Thanks a lot Riley.
The look: Cloudy blonde body topped by a medium white head
In long: A lot of saaz on the nose along with a freshly backed lemon pie. Taste is very herbaceous. Yes there is that typical bitter dry grass flavour that I associate to saaz but also a lot of dry herbaceous plants. It’s autumn and I’m eating dry dead herbaceous plants lying in an wild field. Even a little lilac flavour among others. Well malted body with a hay and cookie sensation. Overall this is an enjoyable take on a style I like. One of the rare (only?) decent bottled Czech style pilsner in Canada. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of decent Czech style pilsners in Canada and still have at least one finger left to make a statement towards our current government.

This is a lovely hazed pale straw colored lager.in the pilsner flute. Decent white cap good lacing qualities. Modest small-bubbled carbonation. Leafy floral hopping over dry cerial aromas and a light mustiness greets the nose. Decent body for a pilsner. Profile is biscuit-malty, balanced well with earthy herbal hopping and a clean drying finish. Top notch micro pils.

Bottle. Pours hazy/cloudy yellow, white head, passable lacing. initial nose is malt/grain, leading into a mild buttery character, and a pervading earhiness. Earthiness continues onto palate, where it meets some gentle, leafy hop character. Different and interesting, but I’m not a huge fan.

Bottle courtesy of savvy1982. Pours gold with a big white head. Smells of dry malt, perfume, some spicy hints. Tastes lightly tarte and dry with a peppery splash on the finish.

Fairly hoppy aroma. Pours golden with a foamy head. Flavourful and enjoyable beer. Nice body, clean drinking with a nice hop finish. These are the types of beers that would go over well in the average bar. don’t get why they push their crappy fruit beers and not stuff like this.

Pours a pale yellow with a fluffy white head. Some citrus on the nose with a lot of saaz hops. Grain and hay on the nose as well. Grainy and citric on the palate with a big dose of hay and musty notes from the saaz. Hallertau adds a nice rolling bitterness and makes this beer quite refreshing and tasty. Honestly I agree with presario about the price... $9.00??? Nice beer but that’s ridiculous. And I’d rather have Phil’ Pil over this one.
