Commercial Description:
Originally brewed in Köln (Cologne), Germany, Kolsch is delicate and refreshing with a prominent, but not extreme hoppiness. You will find that it is less bitter than our CZECH PILZ. Due to its bright golden colour, Kolsch are often mistaken for lagers. In fact, this beer style is an ale which is top fermented at a relatively warm temperature and then followed by a cooler lagering, or aging, process.

Had in the taproom. A wonderful summer beer. Bright straw yellow with a nice white head. Grainy and floral grass scented aroma. Taste is grassy and a little spicy. Finish is sweet and wonderful. A great summer beer.

Pint at Hop In Brew and at the brew pub. Best out in the sun. Yellow with a good head and a grain and grass scent and flavour. Clean finish. More of an earthy quality than a pilsener. Softer hops as well.

On tap at the Ship. Slightly hazy light golden pour, medium carb, quickly receeding white foam head. Big grassy hops with softer spices underneath. Super fresh. Sweet light bready notes followed by touches of hay and subtle berries in the flavour. Light but noticable bitterness and a crisp finish. Very nice.

On tap at brew pub. Straw yellow pour with a two inch white head. Aroma is of pale malt, fruit, and spicy/earthy hops. This beer tastes quite refreshing... All the good qualities of a pale lager but without the terrible malt bill or lack of hops. Honey, grass, earth, plums, berries and a nice medium bitter finish that lingers just long enough that it quenches thirst and satisfies. Very nice.

On tap @ Ship & Anchor. Foggy yellow pour. Smell has large elements of grass and earth. Solid taste that offers lots of earth tones with a nice finish. Well done and first to rate!
