Draught at the brewpub
Dark mahogany color; creamy head. Light coffeish aroma. Mild flavor of black malt and coffee, but correctly complemented by some sweetness. Good bitterness, final quite dry, with a touch of dry liquorice too. Pleasant.

(Draught) Sampled on February 8, 2008, at the brewpub. Thin, dissipated beige head with an near opaque body. Nicely roasted and nutty aroma. Flavour of roasted malt, bitter cocoa and creamy into the finish. Good.

[821-20071105] Tap @ Wildwood (Calgary, AB). Bit of roasted coffee malt in the aroma. Dark dark brown red-hued body with a medium-lasting foamy light tan head. Roasted malt flavour has a grainy alcoholic beer yeast background. Full body. Nice dark but not impressionable.

Dark malts, some toffee, some caramel in the nose. Definitely puts the malts on parade. Clear, very dark brown body with ruby highlights is topped by a decent, fine bubbled tan-brown head that recedes to a ring and wispy cover with initially strong lacing. Clean and dry flavour and body yet plenty of malt character on display: biscuit, bread, a touch of caramel and a lightly grainy aftertaste. Dry, medium light body with moderate, lightly prickly carbonation. Sampled on tap at the restaurant.

Draft at the brewpub. Black body with a small fluffy tan head, some lacing. Modest roast in the aroma is lightly acidic. Very similar flavour, with roast dominating, light acidity accenting mocha bits.(6+) Average palate. Decent, but was not particularly to my liking.
