Very regular brown ale. chriso (4420), London, Greater London, England May 8, 2008 Bottle at Blauwershof, Godwaersvelde - Joris’s leftovers - thanks. Dark brown. Smells of soap and wood. Cardboardy. Oxidised woody flavour. Sweetish. Some liquorice on the finish. Seems old but it isn’t. Not an enjoyable experience. No idea what style it is.
JorisPPattyn (4641), Antwerpen, Belgium Apr 26, 2008 Medium cream-brown head on reddish, Coca-Cola coloured beer. Vanilla-sweetish nose, nutty, slighlty oxydized malts. Sweet-molasses & dark candi sugar. Sweet (if not too), but obviously oxydized sample, although well before BBD. Nutty, "biscuit" flavours. Milk chocolate, almonds & liquorice warming up. Soft, creamy, texture; despite the 6.3 % I seem to get some warming. Sweet, and obviously prematurely aged sample. Then again, Kronenbourg... Aarleks (402), Sydney, Australia Dec 3, 2007 Bottle: Very dark brown with lots of bead in the glass. On oddly nice dark, possibly caramelised apple aroma is totally out of sync with the rest of the tones this beer produces. In the mouth dark grainy flavours dominate with a subtle black pepper finish. There’s also a warming alcohol hit very late. Nicely balanced.
