Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered.
A rich dark ale, dominated by the strong flavours of blended roast malts that are the foundation of this beer. Smooth coffee and chocolate undertones are complemented by the addition of late harvest cone hops, giving a lovely blackcurrant aroma.

Dark Brown. Fruit and malt aroma. Liquorice, ash and coffee taste. Late bitterness. Decent porter.

Brown/black pour with a reasonable cap of tan. Lovely dark toasty aroma, a little butter, a little caramel. Soft chocolate flavor, a little earthy. Body is distinctly thin. Which is too bad. Really distracts from an otherwise pleasant ale.

Pours almost completely black with thin red sides. Thin fizzy brownish head. Aroma is full with chocolate, roasted malts and a slight smokyness. At first it doesn’t give you many flavours - having a slightly thin mouthfeel. Then roastiness and last chocolate flavours take over.

Bottle. Pours a clear very dark brown, nearly black, with tan fluffy head. Toasted malts and espresso notes, slightly sweet and slightly bitter in the nose. Flavour is watery and disappointing, bitterish coffee malt and hops. Lasting malty gentle bitterness. From the aroma, I expected a lot more.

500 ml bottle. Tasted in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK. No head. Low carbonation. Dark brown color. Chocolat taste. Burnt flavor. Semi-dry finish. Sorry, don’t like chocolate, that’s why it lost some points. The burnt flavor saved it a bit...
