Commercial Description:
Bottle: Filtered.
A rich dark ale, dominated by the strong flavours of blended roast malts that are the foundation of this beer. Smooth coffee and chocolate undertones are complemented by the addition of late harvest cone hops, giving a lovely blackcurrant aroma.

Bottled. Pours out in a dark brown colour with a small beige foam. Roasted malts, black currant and anise in the aroma. Light-bodied with notes of anise, plums and roasted malts. Roasty and papery finish with a rather low bitterness.

Well, it is black...and black is beautiful. Williams Brothers dish out some amazing brews that withstand a complexity test even with their low alcohol content. Fans of good taste and fine brewing should check into them. This one’s a polite Stout in taste, but more of a Porter for style. Faint pleasant smell of chocolate and roasted coffee beans. Taste is very very smooth, semi-creamy and with a tiny bit of a chalky feeling. Mr. B’s finish left me thinking of smoke in the vanilla coke and hints of coconut, pepper, and toffee in the coffee.

Bottled: Fruity aroma, berries and roasted malt with hints of coffee. Dark brown color with a foamy brown head. Sourly fruity flavor, berries, dark fruits, some coffee, and roasted malt. Dry, roasty finish. Complex and tasty for this ABV

07/04 A 0.5 l bottle ogivlado brought from Hungary, thanks for sharing! It poured a very dark brown body with smaller brown head that flattened soon. Typical stout aroma, some coffee and just a touch of other dark malt scents. Coffee flavor, not too dry, a bit of caramel and fruits to balance it. Full bodied for 4.2% ABV. Pleasant and long coffee aftertaste. I liked this one although stouts are not my things...that coffee flavor here was nice.

0.5l bottle shared with heavy and ogivlado, courtesy of the latter (thanks!).
BB nov ’09. Poured an extremely dark brown body with a small off white head that went away fast. Coffee and sweet maltiness in the nose. Light, smooth taste of coffee, balanced, some fruity notes. Actually refreshing. Very light acidity, light aftertaste. Ok enough.
