| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 25, 2007 Very rich and full-falvoured considering the relatively light alcohol content. Nose of sweet malt - aniseed and burnt caramel. Pours very dark with a very thin head. Flavour follows the nose and finishes gently bitter with Lindt 85% cocoa chocolate right through it. Quite nice. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 18, 2007 500 ml bottle, bought in Edinburgh. ABV is 4.2%. Very dark reddish brown colour, nearly black. Large and lasting tan head. Very nice aroma of roast malts, coffee and dark chocolate, hints of blackcurrants and liquorice. The flavour is first fairly fruity and slightly acidic, then a moderate roastiness and pronounced coffee notes take over. Moderate hops and chocolate in the finish. Relatively light bodied for its style, but definitely an enjoyable beer. maeib (4748), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England
