May 30, 2006 Aroma givesroasted malts and bittering hops. Taste is similar, not reall a porter i would have said more of a darker bitter since theres minimal porter characters going on.

Feb 11, 2005 Cask@Battersea Beer Festival. Nose has some lsight raisin, spice and coffee. Don’t know what the ’spice’ is, still trying to figure it out, its probabaly pretty obvious though. Mouthfeel is fairy light and easy going. Some slight instant coffee, and perhaps some clove? or something. Pretty soft, easy gong, but showing some slightly interesting characteristics.

Jul 21, 2005 One of those beers that hovers between styles. In the end, I think its more like a porter than anything else. Not that black really - more a deep ruby. The aroma is very appealing - coffee, burnt treacle, spicy fruitcake. Falls down a bit on the palate. Mild licorice, with a slightly sharp, bitter finish. Thin, vaguely woody mouthfeel. An interesting and appealing beer that, ultimately, didn’t quite live up to the promise offered by the aroma. Cask (gravity dispense), Battersea Beer Festival, February 2005.

May 11, 2005 Cask conditioned - handpump - JDW Northampton. A black beer with no head due to its gravity dispense. The aroma is malty and slightly fruity. The taste is light and smooth roast with good malts and a hoppy background. Reminded me a bit of Old Peculier. Good stuff.

Mar 14, 2007 Cask, Loughborough Fest 07. Dark brown with a beige head. Aromas are earthy roast malts with some chocolate malts. Flavours are roast malts with dark fruit. Quite peppery and hoppy on the finish.

Sep 5, 2008 deep brown thick solid creamy head, ,smooth roast malts with a thick creamy body , loads of chocolate with just a hint of bitternes. light dry hoppyness in linger rounds this off nicely

Deep brown, tiny off-white head. Chocolatey, fruity aroma - dark berries. Big esters in the taste, segueing to a pleasant coffee finish. Soft and refreshing.
