My 500ml bottle from Sainsbury says it’s a lager and at 4.7%, Clear gold colour with rocky white head. Musty walnuts on the aroma. Not very good if truth be told, bit musty all the way through. Maybe I just got a bad bottle. Not much of a lager. Some sting on finish, but walnuts all the way through, even on the finish.

A Mes rate. Bottle from Shamansburys.
Clean gold with a faint white film. Diacetyl and some faint astringent hoppage on the nose. Diacetyl is a little less obvious in the flavour but it is still there. Nice hops, excellent bottle conditioning as always from this brewery but it’s not enough to save it. Vanilla finish with some late bitterness. Not the best beer they make for sure.

Cask in the Market Porter. Alround rating: Pale buttery malt, loads of diactyl, grassy lightly peppery hop. Far too buttery.

Bottled, 500ml, from Sainsburys, Banbury. Pale gold with white head. The aroma feels right, a slightly farmy mashed malt, the taste is thinnish, a touch sweet malty, grainy with just a hint of hops, lager done in Scottish style, careful with the ingredients. The finish is reasonably citric. Certainly not the worst Pale Lager available and has some positive points.

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a big fluffy white head. Pale malty and dusty (diacetyl) nose with shy fruity hoppy notes in the background. Sweet flavour, light bodied with a soft carbonation. Pale and slightly sugary malty base with notes of biscuits and a decent citric hops presence; slightly sticky, faint bitter finish. Unfortunately way too sweet. 19.XI.09

Bottle. Golden with a thin white head. Aromas are caramel with dried apricot. Quite fruity. Flavours are sweet lemon marmalade with dry biscuit malts. Spritzy, fresh and hoppy with sweet hops on the finish.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury’s - one of the 15 finalists. Initially creamy and pleasant with a gentle hop fragrance. Then you get to grips with it and it becomes apparent that this a rather thin and dry lager with metallic notes. It’s quite dirty tasting. Not very good at all.
