Cask in the Market Porter. Alround rating: Pale buttery malt, loads of diactyl, grassy lightly peppery hop. Far too buttery.

Bottle. Golden with a thin white head. Aromas are caramel with dried apricot. Quite fruity. Flavours are sweet lemon marmalade with dry biscuit malts. Spritzy, fresh and hoppy with sweet hops on the finish.

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a big fluffy white head. Pale malty and dusty (diacetyl) nose with shy fruity hoppy notes in the background. Sweet flavour, light bodied with a soft carbonation. Pale and slightly sugary malty base with notes of biscuits and a decent citric hops presence; slightly sticky, faint bitter finish. Unfortunately way too sweet. 19.XI.09

This was a left over from the ill-fated Sainsbury’s Festival of earlier this year. Gold. Aroma of piney thyme honey. Flavour is sweet, sticky and slightly cloying, and it’s not matching my mood at the moment. If only there was a sharp bitter kick!

Bottle, Sainsbos, Upton. Expectations were pretty low for this effort, and had it put to one side to drain down alongside a curry. Lagery looks. Slightly malty aroma with some trace hop. Dryish finish. As far as a cold guzzler goes I suppose it ain’t bad. In the lagery scheme of things its probably above average and you could do a lot lot worse in the genre.

4.7% bottle. Clear, relatively fizzy golden yellow with an initial one finger head that mostly dissipated. Vegetable, corn, herb & citric lemon aromas with some floral notes. Citrus tones in the flavour with some nuttiness and grain. Light, crisp bitterness with a grainy aftertaste. Light in body with medium carbonation.
