PaulHegedus (458), Georgetown, Ontario, Canada Sep 21, 2009 500ml can. It’s a very pale yellow colour with no head and little in the way of carbonation. There’s mostly sour apple sugars in the aroma with some reserved pear in behind. The mouthfeel is fairly thin initially but has a slightly syrupy quality. The flavour is fairly restrained, also fairly sweet. It tastes of sour apple jolly rancher with some pear and tartness in the finish. fredthecat (176), Canada Sep 18, 2009 smells of vinegar, rotted fruit, no head lots of artificial bubbles and is golden yellow. taste is not nearly as acidic, vinegary as i imagined, tastes a little lemony, peary at first, only a little sweet at the end, it feels thin and very very much like a carbonated pop with a degree of throat burning.. overall interesting but not worth being significantly more than a beer pintbypint (1002), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Sep 5, 2009 500ml can. Poured into the glass a pale, clear, yellow shade. Head is minimal and fades out quickly. A slight ring is left behind. Despite being pear cider, this still smells like apples to me, sweetish and fruity. Has a light tart flavour, still some moderate sweetness. Some tartness. Dry end, a lot of carbonation and a thin body. Arayaga2 (931), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 6, 2009 Clear champagne gold. Light tart aroma, and sweet, only mildly peary taste with a tart edge. $3/500ml BillPierce (18), Burlington, Ontario, Canada Oct 7, 2008 Not as wretched as it could be, William’s Sir Perry suggests at least a hint of what a decent perry might be. There’s not a lot of pear flavour and you sense it’s been cheapened a good bit to keep the price down for mass consumption. Nonetheless, the finish is rather tart and dry and it doesn’t leave a bad taste in the mouth. Compared to what others have reported, the can I sampled (purchased from the LCBO in Burlington, Ontario) was moderately (not highly) carbonated. I wouldn’t exactly give this a wholehearted recommendation, but neither can I bring myself to despise it.
CapFlu (3480), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Oct 3, 2008 (500ml can) Purchased at Harris Green in Victoria for $3.60. Wow. This really is a cheap perry. Pours a large white, quick dissipating head atop a golden body. Due to outrage British purists, this stuff is overly fizzy and somewhat tart. Not terribly impressed. DerWeg (748), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 3, 2008 Can from LCBO. Yeasty, cheap-cidery, poor overall in taste and body. Pale yellow with fizzy head and carbonation. I’m indifferent. cyrenaica (435), Milton, Ontario, Canada Jul 19, 2008 500ml can
6.0% ABV
I tried this cider on July 4, 2008 after purchasing from one of my local LCBO outlet. The cider poured a very pale yellow with a loose bubbly head that disappeared quickly. The aroma is mild pear. The mouthfeel is highly carbonated, light, and almost champagne like. The taste is sour pears, and almost has a white wine feel/taste to it. Very dry.
