A thin yellowish perry with a thin big bubbled white head. Aroma is lightly sulfurous, rotten fruits, spoiled. In mouth, a sweet refreshing carbonated pear juice, light acidic points, does the trick on this humid plus 30C day. Can from LCBO, bougt a year ago. So it keeps well (I’m very positive about canning).

Pasteurized commercial pear cider... the fruit is not the star here. It could be made from apples or grapes for all the fruit flavour shines through. Aroma is faint and vaguely fruity with some CO2. Very clear and very pale golden body topped by a fizzy, white, fully diminishing head. Sweet fruit offset by some light acidic notes. Very thin and light with strong carbonation. Another tick. Can sampled in Montreal with friends at supper.

Can (500ml). Been in my fridge for a while, time to rate and rid myself. Very clear, very bubbly, small frothy bright white head - very pale yellow indeed. Can’t decide if this smells more like sweet pear juice with apple cores and alcohol, or a fruity tetra pak of cheap sweet plonk - it develops a weird aroma that reminds me of jute backing (my Dad briefly worked in carpet sales when I was small). Taste - hell, I can taste the ascorbic acid - tastes like chewable vitamin C tablets tossed into a fruity wine cooler. Thin, acidic, no finish or linger, pretty lame carbonation - on a hot day after a long skate (rollerblade) this would get the job done, but I won’t get it again.

Can. 500ml Well this is my first cider made with pears. Aroma was on sour side with fruity red apple nose, dry alcohol as well. As for appearance, clear almost with out any color (very pale gold), fizzy laud white top did not make any positive impression. Sweet almost sugar like front, pear juice, dry middle reminded me of cheap fruit white wines. Sparkling white wines. Short, slightly acidic end. Who is the target of this product escapes me.

Can from the LCBO courtesy of Mabel. Very pale yellow. Smells like cat food, or a canned ham on wonderbread sandwich (which oddly makes me crave one. Mmmm... ) Pears, light tartness in the finish. Mild muted fruit. Average to light palate. Its not unpleasant but its a bit odd, and not very flavourful.

(500ml can) Purchased at Harris Green in Victoria for $3.60. Wow. This really is a cheap perry. Pours a large white, quick dissipating head atop a golden body. Due to outrage British purists, this stuff is overly fizzy and somewhat tart. Not terribly impressed.

Tallahassee, Fl. New Leaf Market - 500 ml can. Pours a sparkling very light golden with a tiny bubbly white head. Aroma is pleasant with a natural pear essence to it and a hint of chardonnay. Flavor is of pears of course, pretty natural tasting and pleasant. Not chemically tasting like some of these tend to be. Crisp mouthfeel. Pleasant diversion.

Can. Dark straw. Light carbonation. Not sure if I have had a Perry before, I will have to check. Kind of a creamy light pear scent. Not very sweet, kind of tart which is good. Kind of dry pear flavour. OK. Although judging from the other scores I may have to search out other examples to develop a frame of reference.
