Smells of chocolate, roasted malt, soap, some molasses. Tastes of rich roasted malt and lightly tarte. Enjoyable. bhensonb (3136), Woodland, California, USA Sep 18, 2008 Bottle from Vintage Cellar. Very dark brown color with a significant tan head. Interesting aromas of coffee, nuts, dark toasted malt and chocolate. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is a tad sour, with chocolate, coffee and dark malt. Finish is rather dry and has a very slight sour note. Rich and tasty porter. cmillward (235), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 6, 2008 Bottle. Black/brown body that hardly lets any light through. Almost no head, scant and tan. On the nose, molasses, roast, malty base and chocolate. Much the same in flavor with a licorice component and a nice slight bitterness to the end. On the low-end of carbonation, finishes a little long. A good porter. In flavor was like a mix between an Anchor Porter and Bell’s Kalamazoo.
