TheBeerLover (1013), DC Metro Area, USA Jul 31, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours to a deep brown to black color, with a thick, creamy, white head, and a moderate carbonation. The nose on this beer is excellent, with some really good aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, roast, and some grassy hops. The palate is rich and soft on the tongue with really good chocolate and coffee flavors, paired with just a hint of estery fruit, and roasted barley flavor. This beer finishes with more really good chocolate and coffee up front, then ends with some hop bitterness, and a touch of roast that lingers. Excellent porter packed with big robust aromas and flavors. I really enjoyed sipping and savoring this one, and this beer would be ideal with shell fish, or rich deserts. Impressive brew. Braudog (3464), Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Dec 6, 2006 Bottled. Very dark brown with a firm but thin light brown head. Big roasty chocolate aroma. Equally robust flavors of dark chocolate, cherries, hint of oak and whiskey, incredibly complex and lucious. Outstanding beer. obguthr (707), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Oct 20, 2007 Roasted chestnut, charred oak, hearty, and hoppy aroma. Excellent balance. Black pour with a slow buikling medium tan head. Very nutty and dirty, walnut, chestnut, and bark with a charred quality. Dirty palate. Really unique and earthy. A good segue between a porter and an ABA. With a few more hops this could be perfect. acrdz (4535), Boulder, Colorado, USA Apr 17, 2007 Updated: Jan 3, 2008Deep black with a medium brown colored head. Flavor is all roasty, toasted grains and smoke, a bit dry with some oak wood and a nice dose of chocolate and light coffee grounds… this is basically spot-on for robust porter. Smells amazing: creamy, roasted grains, coffee and dark chocolate, very heavy on the nose, very rich smelling. Rich and thick texture without being too viscous. Almost the perfect porter.

Oh yeah, a lot of 2007 bottles are infection or bad... bonvivant (163), Smithfield, Virginia, USA Oct 12, 2006 Tobacco! Smoke! Charred something!
No light coming thru this glass. Thin head retention. Creamy texture with a pronounced bitter chocolate finish. Very tasty too!
