CapFlu (3339), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Aug 23, 2005 (Bottle) Pours a huge, beige, frothy head with a deep reddish-brown body. Nose of molasses and burnt malt. This is perhaps the best exibit of molasses I’ve ever sampled. Flavour is very oily, molasses and coffee - bitter hops and smoked malt. Very good - I love this... Thanks Argo0.
Goodgrief (1045), Middletown, Delaware, USA Aug 6, 2007 Beer poured dark brown with a slight red tinge. Little head that dissipated by the second sip. There was a decent lacing on the glass. What can I say? It was very unremarkable. Slightly sweet (maybe a little too much so) and a tad bitter...I think that was from the roasted malt, not a lot of hop action in this one. A little thin for my Porter likings. No real reason to seek this one out. I got another bottle of this from my Williamsburg mixed 6-pack, so maybe I’ll have more to say after I drink the second one. 5000 (2400), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Apr 23, 2006 Bottle: Dark brown, ruby hues, huge rocky tannish head, tufts of lacing. Light roasted malt on the nose, slight sourness, a touch of unsweetened berries. Earthy malts on the tongue, mild roastiness, along with that odd unsweetened berry as well. Somewhat thin, muttled finsh. Looks decent, but a bit light for a porter.   Thanks danem for sharing!
hopscotch (4579), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Oct 28, 2005 Bottle... Very dark, crimson beer with a small, creamy, tan head. Good retention. Vanilla, roasted nuts, cocoa and caramel in the nose. The flavor is generously bittered and moderately burnt. Medium-bodied and fizzy. Lengthy, burnt, bitter finish. Drew (2377), Kent, Ohio, USA Oct 13, 2005 Deep red, not quite brown; hold it up to the light and see. Short head, some lacing. Aroma is a nice mix of hoppy and sweet. Taste is surprisingly bitter - I was expecting a lame over-sweetened brew. Palate is ok, but overly carbonated. Nice dry roasted finish. radagast83 (1071), Springfield, Virginia, USA Oct 5, 2005 Updated: Oct 16, 2005A very nice beer, and even better than the other Williamsburg beer that I have had before. A nice bitter hop taste and goes down pretty smooth.
