Growler from kmweaver--thanks so much! I’ve waited a long time for this beer. Deep golden brown color with a nice white head. Aroma is pine and and lighter citrus. The taste is heavily hoppy with a bit of sweet malt mixed in. Some bready tastes as well. Great balance and flavor.

From a growler. Generously shared by cquiroga. Pours a transparent, coppery amber color with a thick head of fluffy off-white. Fresh, bold citrusy hop bouquet with notes of red grapefruit, floral sweet peas, papaya tropical fruit, and some light caramel/toffee malts. Great hop intensity that’s allowed to exhibit it’s brashness uninterupted from any potentially unwanted malt sugars that lie beneath. Medium light bodied, finely carbonated mouthfeel with a gentle, borderline creamy texture. Malt flavors of toffee, biscuit, and caramel jump out instantly, but the sweetness is masterfully held in check. Grapefruit hops jump out with a fresh punch initially, but get a bit dull and scratchy toward the finish, which is really my only complaint about the beer. I usually don’t go for the darker, more malt forward IPA’s, but this one is well executed and quite tasty. Thanks for sharing, Chris!

Poured a clear copper color with a thin off-white head. Grapefruit, citrus and pine hop forward aroma. Hop forward flavor with a short sweetness. Bitter citrus rind finish. The finish dries out as well.

12 oz handbottle, via Dickinsonbeer. Pours a beautiful dark orangish copper under a foamy fluffy two finger beige head. Tons of sticky intricate lacing. Great resiny hop nose with tons of sweet caramel maltiness backing it up. Reminds me of PTE really. A little bit of piney hops. Big resiny hops grab you first, tons of hops, but the bitterness is kept in check. The toasted caramel sweetness takes over on the finish with a little alcohol. Mouthfeel is full bodied with a nice resiny stickiness and perfect soft carbonation. I like that the stickiness comes from the hops instead of lots of risidual sugars. Overall, a really great IIPA. This is a perfect example of what I want from an IIPA.

Growler courtesy of kmweaver sampled on 2/1/08: Pours a transparent bright orange with a clingy-lacing frothy off-white head. Has a pretty big, fresh resiny grapefruity hop aroma with a mild caramely sweetness hiding underneath. Body starts with good fullness and fresh grapefruity hops dripping with resin and nicely balanced with sweet, lightly toasty crystal malt. Quite drinkable too. A great double IPA!
