This has made the rounds again. It’s hard to compare this to the previous ratings as it has been five years but this had much more promise on the board. It might just be that I recently had a few true Belgian abbey dubbels but this does not do the style justice at all.
Aroma / Appearance - The minimal head disguised a sticky sheen of lacing and caramel brown liquid. The nose was malty and strong with a cloying sweetness that indicates something was just out of whack. It seemed so much more than 7.2%.
Chewy and thick it took too much work to move this one to the throat. Gingerbread and chocolate make it palateable but overall there is nothing interesting here. By either scaling back the alcohol (unlikely) or adding some balance they could improve this one vastly. hershiser2 (923), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

Nice dirty brown, small head. Cloudy and thick looking.
No smell... unless my nose is broken.
Sweet cider with hints of chocolate and alcohol. Nice and not overpowering.
A little thin in the mouth, but OK. obxdude10 (1563), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA
