Brigadier (1220), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA Apr 18, 2009 On tap at brewpub
This was the newest tap and about the only one which was not a re-release of something old. It seems that Willoughby is slowly transitioning to a new brewer although at times the selection still leaves a bit to be desired. This is a decent fruit beer if you don’t want something heavy. However I will not be ordering it again even at $2.50 a pint.
Aroma / Appearance - The carbonated maple body gave no surprises. As advertised there was fresh blueberry puree, white bread, and light waxy chocolate. It almost smelled like a blueberry waffle or piece of toast.
Flavor / Palate - The light tartness gives this a small kick but nothing special. Blueberry crisp yields to caramel cake and then dry pieces of graham cracker encrusted cheesecake. While it doesn’t have any major flaws it leaves little impression. On the whole this is a nice gateway beer but not one to return to on a regular basis.
