GABF 2007: Poured a clear golden color with an off-white head. The aroma was hop forward with grapefruit and citrus. It almost covers the malt. The flavor was a nice mix of malt and citrus hop. Dry moderately bitter rind finish. Lighter side of medium body.

Draft at the brewpub. Crisp amber body with a creamy white head. Solid hoppy aroma - resiny with light pine and citrus notes (7+). Chewy resiny hops, light citrus comes out but it is mostly resin from the hops. Light supportive caramel malt. Very hop forward flavour. (7+) Average palate. Hops linger in the after taste. This definitely hit the spot after a long drive from Toronto. Very nice IPA.

On draught at 69 Taps in Akron. The beer is hazy orange-amber in color with a medium white head that has fair retention. Patchy lacing on the glass. The aroma is piney hops with a little bit of malt and grapefruit. Medium-bodied with a good bitter quality. Resiny hops flavor coupled with fruity esters and more pine. Just a bit of malt here as well. The finish is tart and hoppy and lingers awhile. All in all there is not much to complain about here, this is a solid IPA all around.

[372-20070629] Tap @ Brewpub (Willoughby, OH). VERY hoppy aroma is a little sweet and has a nice orange rind tinge. Clear, golden orange brown body with a long-lasting creamy white head. Nice super hoppy flavour, mainly citrus. Medium body is fairly dry. Not usually a fan but this is pretty solid.

Growler: Courtesy of Styles. The aroma is huge with lots of grapefruit and pineapple. It pours transparent amber with a small white head that diminishes quickly. The flavor starts with lots of pineapple and tropical fruits. The fruity sweetness balances very weill with the big grapefruit hops finish. This is excellent and very underrated in my opinion.

This dark copper ipa had mostly one thing going for it - an abundance of hops - not that they were the best hops, but there was plenty there for your tongue to choose from. Aroma was not much (as has always been the cases at this brewpub). Not very much malt at all. Taste started off with a citrus hop at the front, then some sweet on the center of the tongue, then pretty much nothing but some lingering bitterness. I mean, I like hop juice, but this really needs some malt to help it out.

Dark copper with a good head. Courants and grapefruit. Not a lot of malt to back up the hops, but the hops have an interesting complexity to them that keeps this beer from being too boring of an IPA.
