Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 13, 2008 In short: A very very very hoppy Black IPA. Excellent hop-fix.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Black body with a small beige head
In long: Nose is intensely coniferous with some citrus notes. Taste is really not that roasted for a Black-IPA, I’d go as far as to say that in a blind taste I would have called it a “normal” IPA. But that may also be because this baby literally had A TON hops and it overwhelmed everything and probably was crushing the roasted flavours too. Bitterness intensity is only medium but it is very very tasty. Pine-tree cones, citrus fruits and some grapefruit… wow! this is a tasty treat for the hop-head. As it warmed up some nice black chocolate started to come through thus showing the Black IPA personality. I was unable to compare this one with the regular “Ear-Ache My… IPA” because fifteen minutes before I ordered both they had run-out of the regular version. Shit! 15 minutes too late, ah crap!... and that’s probably because I was taking one.
