Commercial Description:
A traditional dry Irish stout just like the classic from Dublin only fresher! Creamy head and a dark, dry roastiness define this classic style. Made with pale malt and roasted barley, this beer is very light-bodied in spite of its color! Served nitrogenated for a creamy cascading head in the tradition of Irish Stouts. Try a Black & Tan (Stout over Pale) or a Black & Razz (Stout over Razz) for something different !!! 5.2% abv 30 IBU’s.

At 5.0% this is a decent sessionable Guinness-like alternative. At $2.50 it is worth a pint. At full price I would have still get one depending on the rest of the offerings at the time. This meets all the classic requirements of a dry stout so if that is your thing give it a try.

Aroma / Appearance - A dense one finger head was shaved down as I watched from my seat at the bar. When it got to me about half was left protecting a black fluid body. Rye toast, oatmeal, and a hint of ash melded cleanly and simply. The trace sweetness was hard to pin down precisely.

Flavor / Palate - Just a trace too watery the mouthfeel is still flavorful. Cooled firewood left over from a bonfire mixed with chocolate flakes and delicate hops to sweep across the tongue. Fading at a sedate pace it left hints behind but not much more. I would definitely order this again if I were at Willoughby more often.

Objectively speaking: An exemplary dry stout that surpasses most of the Irish ones.
I like: Large nitro brown head. Medium bodied, full bodied for a dry stout. Well extracted roastiness avoid any metallic or inky hints. Still finishes with a fair dose of ashey dullness, but a dry nut skin finish saves the game.
I dislike: Light lactic notes do not interrupt the spectacle, but might if not fresh.

Lots of creamy chocolate in the nose, alcohol notes. Flavor is smooth, but not much going on. Some odd medicine notes in the finish. Palate is pretty thin for this style.

BEAUTIFUL beer. Looked a lot like the beauty of Guinness, completely with the light fluffy head. Not much of a smell whatsoever. Taste: a hint of smokiness, but not really enough to make it all worthwhile. Not bad, but I really expected more. Light and watery in the mouthfeel. I had two of these back to back, and it didn't fill me up. However, after two I had the urge to switch to another (and better) brew.
