It has a really nice vanilla aroma with a hint of spice. A nice dark "tea" like color. But where it fell down was the taste. It was almost right but was just off a little. johntreeter (122), Greenwood, Indiana, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 3/5 | 5/20 | Nov 18, 2009 Pours a nice clear dark amber color with a very light tan head that did not last or leave any lacing. Aroma and taste were dominated and devistated by the vannilla. If it was named Winter’s Vannilla Ale it would be rated in the mid 3’s it’s not and has very little oak(cask) flavor and no bourbon so it’s misleading and therefor a terrible beer. Hints of vanilla and bourbon on the tongue, but not much in the aroma. An enjoyable seasonal ale. Try it, it might surprise you. jlhuston (2), Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, USA does not count | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 16, 2009 Has a great vanilla after taste. I choose this when funds are low and I can not afford a Christmas/Winter Ale. Elwood (677), Leesburg, Virginia, USA
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/20 | Nov 8, 2009 Serving: 12 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Deep amber color with a small, foamy, light tan head.
Aroma: Like I am sniffing a bottle of vanilla extract. That’s pretty much it.
Flavor: Like drinking vanilla extract. A bit too sweet and too much vanilla. Thin and nasty.
Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium-light but cloying mouthfeel and a long, vanilla finish.
Overall: This one is a mess. Avoid this like the plague. spiritsbeerman (47), Nicholasville, Kentucky, USA

A very drinkable ale not much carbonation after a good pour and lots of creamy beige head that disapeared quickly with little or no lacing. 6% ABV is masked very well with the vanilla sweet finish.I dont know why bourbon cask I dont taste the bourbon at all, we enjoy some very nice bourbon ale’s in KY and this is not one of those. presario (2956), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 6, 2009 Dark amber. Light head. Araoma of vanilla, alcohol a little funky but pleasant. Grows on you like the flavour which starts a bit muddled with lots of vanilla, caramel and bourbon? Needs a stronger beer base. It is an interesting blend. iabeerguy (159), Iowa, USA
