Commercial Description:
During even the coldest of weather, warm up to the smooth, robust taste of our Winter’s Bourbon Cask Ale. Full of rich aromas that you find in the winter months, hints of vanilla and flavorful hops, this is a beer that is great for pouring into a large tulip glass and enjoying with friends around a fireplace.

Not much nose. Expected some bourbon... but nothing. Some chocolate... but it’s so thin it kinda sucks.

bottle shared with swalden 28. poured an orange/red with an off white head. aroma of obvious bourbon, caramel, wood, and some vanilla. the vanilla threw it over the top for me on this one. flavor of bourbon, wood, and some caramel. light body and high carbonation. this is really not bad at all, i could sip on a few more of these.

Bottle: Had a medium brown pour with a small light tan head. Aroma was sweet with brown sugar. Flavor was again sweet with a very light bourbon but stronger vanilla flavor. Finish reminded me strongly of cream soda. Much too sweet and soda like. Needs body, more attenuation, and much less vanilla. Would not buy again.

pours a rich amber with a 1 inch fomay head. nice carbonation. Aroma of delicious malt and dough. Taste is very stong vanilla with a little spice, flour, and cookie taste. Most feel is a little sharp due to the vanilled spice but very quick. Finish is rich and vanillay.Clean lacing.

Pours with a foamy, largish off-white head that flattens over a clear reddish amber body. Head leaves some lacing. Aroma of bourbon essence and oak with a bit of caramel and some banana esters. Taste is completely graham cracker with cinnamon. Slight banana, bread, vanilla and cardboard behind. Fizzy and watery thin mouthfeel.

Sampled the ’07 and ’08 side by side. Pours a clear orange amber with big, settling off-whtie head. The ’08 is a shade darker. Aroma of honey, vanilla, and small hint of oak. Flavor is vanilla, caramel malt, and has a slight warming sensation. The ’07 has a slightly fuller body. Suprisingly, I doesn’t really bother me that it’s an AB product.

Light amber color with an off white head. Strong vanilla aroma and taste that is a little over powering, mild caramel malt presence but not much else happening. A shame to the bourbon cask ale but once again, props to Michelob for trying.
