Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA May 8, 2008 Draft. Ya know i thought this was real good one night when i was drunk, i got marshmellow, caramel, bourbon, chocolate. But the next time i realized it was a poor attempt at chocolate bourbon beer. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA May 2, 2008 Bottle: Pour a clear orange with a weak bubbly off white head. Immense vanilla aroma. Sweet vanilla extract with only a hint of caramel. Thin, fizzy body. Papery flavor, and much less sweet than the aroma suggests. Hints of vanilla; it’s basically a vanilla seltzer. Pretty bad. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA Apr 28, 2008 12 oz bottle born on 10/19/07: Bright cherry and amber pour with a thin white head. The nose is sugary sweet with notes of cherry and vanilla. A nice dose of sweet chocolate and burnt caramel follow up the fruit. Thin, lagerish body. Starts sweet and ends really sweet. A moderate dose of gooey caramel starts things off, with lighter notes of candied cherries. The finish is straight Sugar Babies. Interesting take for AB, but a beefier base beer would definitely offset the excessive sweetness. phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Apr 21, 2008 A tad sweet for its style in my opinion, and noticeably unbalanced. It poured a bright reddish copper colour with a large fluffy almond coloured head. Aroma is slightly nutty and sweet, with a light, well carbonated off sweet taste. tomciccateri (496), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Apr 14, 2008 Updated: Jan 11, 2009Twist-off bottle, undated. Pours a clear Mahogany red with a solid tan head. Oaky, malty aromas. Light-to-medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Early toffee character. Caramel flavor dominates. Sweet flavor balance. Subtly vanilla notes. Very late oak dry finish. wmubronco1992 (176), Coldwater, Michigan, USA Apr 13, 2008 Bottle - Large, but unimpressive head with no retention. No lacing. Weak spicy aroma. Nice copper color. Some vanilla in the taste. This is a reasonable attempt by AB to create a different product. Not great, but kind of interesting. Much better then their flag ship macro brews. Would drink again. pootzboy (1037), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada Apr 5, 2008 Bottle:
super clear deep amber, non existant head, no lacing.
Sweet spice aroma little else
Weak palate, thin mouthfeel, sweet, some bitter some spice, fast finish...stale tasting. swwild (8), Northfield, Minnesota, USA does not count Apr 5, 2008 Not your typical ale by far. Very surprised this is from Anheuser Busch, I quite like it.
Tastes like ok bourbon.
