gilvanblight (390), Windsor, Ontario, Canada Apr 4, 2008 Suprisingly thick pour, caramel brown in colour. Sweet scent with a touch of vanilla. Somewhat odd taste, thick and sweet with lots of caramel and more of the vanilla. Very supprised this is from Aheuser Busch, I quite like it. UnholyBrewing (448), Melbourne(Mulgrave), Australia Mar 28, 2008 ...I was surprised when I got this cheap stuff at the jiffy. It had nice vanilla notes, with the bourbon finish. I was also surprised that it was AB, since everything else they produce is basically undrinkable. Could be better, but not as bad as it could be. highibus (421), Mill Creek, Washington, USA Mar 27, 2008 12 oz bottle pours a nice cherry amber color with almost no head. Aroma is nice, but lacking. Some licorice sweet malt and what I would call a fake alcohol aroma. Flavor is much of the same some vanilla and burbon, but poorly done. Like they found some syrup that tastes a little like burbon and put it there. Medium body, a little thin maybe. Not terrible, but I would only have this when nothing much else is available (they do have it at Tucson Ice Cat Hockey games so I will have it there). daknole (2802), Plantation, Florida, USA Mar 21, 2008 Where is the bourbon flavor or aroma? And the vanilla is barely noticeable. Not the worst beer on earth like most AB products, but not so great either. chrissy (122), Connecticut, USA Mar 17, 2008 Bottle. A hint of vanilla taste. Absolutely no bourbon taste or smell. A nice attempt from AB but definately needs some fine tuning. Fightfire4beer (125), Virginia, USA Mar 11, 2008 Bottle. medium off white head that dissapears quickly. Dark copper color. Aroma of vanilla and wet dog. Vanilla taste throughout with a hint of licorice. At the end of each sip I get a slight alcohol presence, but I wouldn’t say it tastes like bourbon. At least anheuser is trying things like this, but it tastes like they are using typical macro brew thinking to try and get it done. C dm9831 (1167), Monee, Illinois, USA Mar 9, 2008 pours a dark amber, with a quickly disapearing off-white head. he aroma was of vanilla. the flavor was vanilla. my notes say "too much vanilla!", so that seems to have been the dominating impression. SwillNoMore (105), USA Mar 5, 2008 Oops, I didn’t realize this was A-B until just now. Ah well I’ll give it a fair shake. Bottle, from Duvel tulip @ cellar temp. "Born on" 31 Oct 07 (it’s been sitting at the back of the fridge a while). Crystal clear red-amber, aggrasseive pour produced a big frothy head but it faded to nothingness quickly and left no lacing whatsoever. Smells like boiled cabbage -- hey, I just realized something: ALL A-B products must be this style (sarcasm)! I do detect a *hint* of that caramel and "bourbon" they mention, but it only made me smirk at their audacity. Surprisingly, it’s not as thin and watery as...water. And the carbonation is reasonably soft rather than sharp and fizzy as expected. No notable flavors, really. It reminds me of any other randomly chosen "specialty" beer by any of the big macro brewers -- basically their standard fare with a few squirts of food coloring and artificial flavors. Sort of dry-ish in the finish, but the aftertaste is pretty disgusting. I’d rather drink this than Bud, but what’s that saying, really? Not a whole lot. At least it’s 6% ABV. *yawn*
