ford9719 (369), Vilseck, Germany Dec 17, 2007 Bottle. Poured a ruby orange clear color. Aroma is malt and bourbon. Taset is very small bourbon finish. LtJudge (431), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Dec 16, 2007 Pours a dark amberish color with a small head.Aromas ofcaramel malt, slight wiff of bourbon. Flavor is sweet of caramel malts with hints of vanilla. a Microb of bourbon flavor.nothing really to say about the finish. Thanks Brewblackhole! CJfromPhilly (82), Aston, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 16, 2007 Pours a light brown/rusty color with a big foamy head that settles down into a fairly thick collar. I don’t see a whole lot of carbonation going on, VERY few bubbles rising in the glass. Aroma is quite sweet, with the vanilla being very dominant. Taste is subdued (a politically correct term for "weak"), malty, but with little hint of the vanilla or of the Bourbon Barrel Oak (and I let it warm up quite a bit to capture the "full" flavor). Mouthfeel is weak and watery as well. This is a disappointment. What could have been a unique and interesting winter ale turns out to be just another pitiful attempt by Anheuser-Busch to make a "craft beer". It mighr fool your average Bud drinker, but it’s not gonna impress a real beer geek much!!! Maybe A-B should just stick to mass-produced macrobrew and leave it at that. Bcoble003 (100), Dalton, Ohio, USA Dec 16, 2007 not a bad taste nice color better of the anheuser-busch company tasty! nice its only once a year! yjb (110), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Dec 14, 2007 put some bud in barrel for a week, and toss vanilla extract in it... if it comes out worse than this, i’ll be shocked. sallad (110), USA Dec 13, 2007 Clear copper-brown with a fizzy off-white head. Vanilla apparent in aroma along with an amber malt sweetness. No hints of the "bourbon cask" in the name. light vanilla flavor over a light caramel sweetness. Slightly on the thin bodied side, with a quick sweet finish. Rib Eye (143), USA Dec 12, 2007 The best thing by far that I have ever had from A-B. Way more complex than anything else from them with nice spicy and fruity notes underlying the sweetish malt. Slight vanilla on the finish. DId a side by side with Sam Adams Winter Lager and I preferred this, but only slightly. dchmela (1406), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 9, 2007 On tap. Pours dark red with thin white head. Vanilla syrup aroma, but not overpowering. Taste like a Xmas cookie with a hint of vanilla. Thick finish that was kind of chewy. I don’t see myself having another one of these.
