About all I can say is it looks OK and tastes a little like beer. Has medium head with good color. Aroma is almost non-existent with a smell closer to tap water than beer. Strange chemical off notes predominate. I did not notice any vanilla scent or taste, and I love vanilla. When food came, I thought it might taste better with food, but nothing doing. Left almost a full glass on the table. mrant (330), New York, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 5/5 | 6/20 | Dec 6, 2007 Smells of skunky malts with a hint of vanilla. Pours a clear red color with a very very small white head. It tastes...awful. Watery with almost no malt or hop flavor and quickly dominated by a sickly sweet vanilla flavor. The label claims they use whole beans, but I swear its vanilla extract. Gross AOF (282), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 8/20 | Dec 6, 2007 Clear red beer with no head. Mostly crystal malt nose, slightest hint of vanilla. Pretty boring aromas, certainly no presense of bourbon. Nicely carbonated but thats about the best compliment I can give this beverage. Light in body with an astringent finish. Not very good. This stuff might be elf piss. switzer (22), USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 6, 2007 Pours a dark gold, but smells strongly of a sweet caramel. Tastes like vanilla and bourbon. Is this beer? Cute name and concept, but a poor attempt to produce something drinkable. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Dec 5, 2007 Updated: Dec 6, 2007Pours a sparkling clear orange-amber with a frothy, beige head that diminishes. The nose is candy-sweet with notes of caramel malt, light vanilla and a hint of faint bourbon. There is an odd plastic-like note looming in the background as well. Light bodied with fine carbonation and an almost harsh, astringent finish. The flavor is an astringent combination of a rather unpleasant bourbon/plastic note combined with a vanilla-filled caramel candy chew. Overall, this one was pretty much a train wreck for me. Tolerable while it sat on my tongue, it became a just awful at the swallow. Thankfully that flavor didn’t linger long, but it was bad enough that the rest of the bottle went down the drain. | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 5, 2007 Bright orange copper color with a diminishing ecru head. If this was given to me blind, I would have never guessed that its name included bourbon. I do catch a whiff of perhaps bourbon vanilla, but am hard pressed to find anything else, except a touch of eau ’d malt liquor. Plenty of vanilla in this one. Certainly not your father’s bourbon cask, unless your father living from 1920 to 1933. Light malt liquor undertones. A premium malt liquor with a dash of vanilla. badnloose (99), North Hollywood, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 5, 2007 Bottle. Pours darker brown with a tan head. Feel of swirling warm alcohol took me by surprise, then came the vanilla taste. Pretty much tastes like an ale doused with vanilla. Blended nicely.
