Flavor is sweet with vanilla, the slightly higher alcohol content is barely recognizable and there is a little bit of spice from the bourbon. A little cherry flavor, too. Nothing really stands out though, it’s all just mashed together. Better than Beach Bum, not as good as Jack’s Pumpkin Spice.

Name of brew is downright deceptive. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 15, 2007 Bottle. Dark amber body with a thick ring of bubbles and a thin film of bubbles. Nose-dusty, vanilla, light wood and bourbon. Taste-cherry, light vanilla, marshmallow, nutmeg, macroness, very light bourbon, slightly corny sweet. Not as bad as I was anticipating. | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 15, 2007 Bottle: Pours clear amber with small white head. Malty and vanilla aroma. Flavor is malty and caramelly with kind of a toasted vanilla bean flavor. No trace of bourbon or oak in the flavor. How its aged on cask and bottled i dont know. This beer is absurd. By itself it is a bland amber ale with vanilla. Panzuriel (993), Westerville, Ohio, USA

Nose is rather one dimensional sweet malt. Taste is malty and mellow but has a cloying sweetness that is really overpowering. the vanilla bourbon flavor tastes rather forced. Body is a bit thin and fizzy. viomon2 (1), Lynchburg, Virginia, USA does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 8, 2007 I love this beer. However, it has to be from the right place. I got it from a local pub and it was magnificent. Its a sweeter beer or at least it is after one or two pints. I also ordered this beer at a chain restraunt (smoky bones) and hated it. It seemed to have been overly carbonated so much so as to be undrinkable. In bottled format this beer was great. Unfortunately I can’t find a release date for 07 and wonder if it will be put out again this season. BeerloverEJ21 (131), Georgia, USA

I thought it was very interesting and very tastey. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, rootbeer. Had a distint oak taste, with hints of vanilla, hops, bourbon and sweet malt. I really enjoyed this beer. Aroma is vanilla and low roast bready malt forward with a light alcoholic note. Appearance is a very nice light copper with a very low off-white head. Flavor is a slightly sour vanilla note forward fallowed by some slightly grainy sweet malt and no hop character. Mouthfeel is medium/high bodied with low carb texture and moderate creaminess. Overall, this is just not easy drinking, but might get better with time.
