Commercial Description:
During even the coldest of weather, warm up to the smooth, robust taste of our Winter’s Bourbon Cask Ale. Full of rich aromas that you find in the winter months, hints of vanilla and flavorful hops, this is a beer that is great for pouring into a large tulip glass and enjoying with friends around a fireplace.

Bottle courtesy of my mom, thanks mom! Bought at Bavarian Inn, Frenkenmuth, MI. Copper body is capped only briefly by a mocha fizz, with tiny bubbles. No lace or retention, and a lack of proteins. The head fades to a small ring that lasts for about a minute. The aroma is awash with eucalyptus, spearamint, vanilla extract, and some nutty, woody segments. Flavour profile is on the plus side of sweet caramel malts, but is over-turned by a lot of vanilla, sweet miny candy, bubblegum, sugary malts. The body is strange due do the thin aspects, and it is quite watery on the finish. Funnily enough, it’s a sipper, and pretty tough to drink at even a standard pace. Thanks for the bottle mom!

(Bottle) Pours a reddish color with small head. Some vanilla in the aroma, with strong ’cotton-candy’ notes in the taste. Lots of carbonation. Sweet and unbalanced, but not bad if you like cream soda. An interesting brew, but not very good overall.

Well, I could say a lot about this beer, but I’ll just say this: it’s a well-made knock-off of a vanilla coca-cola.

On draft at Just Sports. Pours deep amber with an off white small head. Aroma of spices, sweet malts, slight bourbon, and vanilla. The flavor is sweet, vanilla, toast, but lacks any bite. Decent brew.

12oz bottle: Pours a brownish red color, somewhat bubbly. Small brown/tan head, very quickly diminishing. Very malty, metallic aroma, not balanced. Malty, a little vanilla on the end. Bourbony. Smooth finish. Bland.

Pint draft. Pours red, with thin quickly dissipating off white head. Aroma is bitter oak and bourbon. Flavor is dominated by bourbon, but it is not overpowering. I would have this again in the abscence of better choices. However, one is enough - not a session beer IMO. Judging by the other reviews, I would say that A-B is still fiddling with the recipe. 1/30/07; tried again in same restaurant. No bourbon, all very strong vanilla aroma and flavor. Will not try again.

Nice amber color. Small, tight head. Sweet and malty with hints of bourbon and vanilla in the nose and the flavor. Liek several raters have mentioned, it’s like an alcoholic cream soda. Not bad, I guess. I’d drink it in a bar if there were no real beers.

Let me start by saying that this is most likely the sweetest beer I’ve ever had in my life. It’s pure sugar. But for some reason, I love it. Perhaps it’s my ability to look past the Anheuser-Busch label and just enjoy the candy goodness. Maybe I’m alone, but I can’t get enough of this beer, much like Jack’s Pumpkin Spice.
