The aroma is all vanilla… seriously, you could use this to bake with. More vanilla than vanilla coke. A touch of sweet caramel in back. Smells and tastes like vanilla cola. So intensely sweet and syrupy that it barely resembles beer anymore. I usually love vanilla character in beer, but this is taking it too far. Light woodiness in back. Probably started as an alright brew, but the vanilla clobbers it into submission. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA
| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 1/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 3/20 | Dec 21, 2006 Bottle. No head. Deeep copper brown in color. Vanilla and caramel aroma. Nothing good here. HooperX (13), Decatur, Georgia, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 21, 2006 Pours a reddish brown, tea-like color with a cream-ish head. Smells strongly of vanilla, slightly of alcohol, almost candy-like. Tastes like soda, STRONG vanilla flavor, very very little bourbon taste, if any. It essentially tastes like vanilla extract smells. No real bite or fizz or challenge to it, very watery. Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale beats the pants off of this stuff. For something from AB, it’s pretty reasonable, but again, nothing remarkable, nothing challenging, nothing doing. Won’t be drinking this again after I finish this six. chimpscampee (556), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 21, 2006 Updated: Jan 27, 2007bud with vanilla extract and carmel added and hardly any burbon flavor noticable. Still a big step up compared to bud so its rating is about right. drewbeerme (2272), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Dec 21, 2006 Updated: Feb 27, 200712oz bottle a few months old. pours a deep mahogony with small head. aroma is just awful, some combination of spice, vanilla, and a medicinal scent with undertone of bourbon. the aroma is sickening. oh the flavor is much worse. way off balance with loads of vanilla extract flavor that makes me gag. can’t taste much bourbon. but please don’t make me take another sip. okay, maybe i was prepared for a second sip cuz it wasn’t the worst thing ever but still, dag yo, this is nasty. i’m done. the vanilla flavor is so over powering i can’t taste anything else. it’s like cutting vanilla extract with a few ounces of water. i hate this. after 2 sips i’m done. luckily my drain can handle the rest. glkaiser (1163), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Dec 21, 2006 Tried this definitely w/out bias at Redwood in Seattle...had no idea it was the AB Bourbon until after I tried it. This is just wrong...Clear dark amber with creamy head. Vanilla coke aroma and taste. Tastes like flat vanilla coke mixed with ass. I commend them for trying, but this just doesn’t work. railcat1 (578), Orlando, Florida, USA

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 19, 2006 Bottle. Pours copper with a thin white head. Nose is a little funky, sweet. Taste is of a little vanilla and marshmellow, not much bourbon. Not horrible, but something that I’m not looking forward to the rest of the 6 pack.
