fuzzy82 (17), Decatur, Illinois, USA Dec 3, 2006 Very different beer deffinatly a vanilla taste with a hint of burbon. cool drink for some thing out of the ordinary. homosaur (7), USA does not count Dec 3, 2006 One of Anheuser’s best attempts at making a drinkable brew. The vanila taste is a bit overstated and artificial but it’s still a pretty decent brew from a major. Have not seen this on tap locally, but I’m keeping my eyes peeled. badgerben (3586), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Dec 3, 2006 Dark copper color with a thin head. Slight bourbon aroma with a bit of chocolate. It tastes like water with vanilla extract. Not that it’s entirely terrible, just not decent beer. savitska (163), Smyrna, Georgia, USA Dec 3, 2006 There’s something sickly sweet - like over-ripe vanilla beans or mashed strawberries - in the taste of this beer.
It looks fine and smells appealing, but what could have been roasted, peated maltiness is ruined by some very obvious non-beer-related flavors.
Another one of those efforts by AB here in the US to pull the wool over the eyes of real beer drinkers and steal market share from Sam Adams amongst the less beer inclined. gputty (456), Virgina Beach, Virginia, USA Dec 3, 2006 From bottle. Pours a golden orange with tan head. Nose is sweet fruits and vanilla. Lots of vanilla in the flavor, smooth palate with lingering vanilla in the finish. Nice to see one of the big ones trying something like this. ratman197 (3139), Arvada, Colorado, USA Dec 3, 2006 Bottle poured a clear dark amber with a small diminishing amber head. Aromas of carmel, vanilla and a hint of cocoa. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, vanilla and a faint hint of bourbon with a smooth sweet finish. JB175 (1654), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 2, 2006 Caramel color with a sweet, yet artificial aroma of vanilla and cheap whiskey. Taste was primarily marshmellows with some vanilla and a hint of "bourbon". I guess this is about the best you can get out of AB. duffman462 (160), Gainesville, Florida, USA Dec 2, 2006 At first pour, this looks like a respectable beer. Poured a nice amber color with a lacey white head. Fine. Could AB finally have a decent beer? ahhhgggg...no. Flavor opens up with some cloying corn syruppy sweetness, then some artificial- tasting vanilla that lingers for hours. I brushed my teeth and still tasted vanilla. There is a hint of oak at the end, but it seems out of place to me in such a sweet tasting beer. I’m surprised to see this one rated so high. Not a good beer at all.
