BigBeer45 (676), Troy, Michigan, USA Jan 12, 2009 Has a very clear light to medium red pour with some faint burnt orange and bronze colors, has medium carbonation and a small off-white bubbled head, aroma of candied vanilla and malt sweetness, has some toasted malt aroma but it is in the background, flavor of malt and malt sweetness, there is a faint taste of alcohol, maybe this is the flavoring added to give a bourbon aged taste? There is some spice flavoring of cinnamon and maybe something else, finish has a small bitterness and ends with some dryness on the palate, I had a hard time drinking this, not sure if it was the spices or the overall recipe, thin mouth feel, this does not smell and taste like a beer that was aged in a bourbon barrel, this is boring, the only thing good about this beer was how it looked and I was glad to be done with this drink. thechandler (268), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA Jan 11, 2009 Pours a nice copper-red. Don’t get your hopes up. Aroma is light, and smells distinctly Michilobian. Flavor....is also very much so. Slightly bitter. Not in the hoppy way either. Definitely a bit of the cask-wood flavor though. Not much malt or hops or anything else that might give it decent flavor. Overall - meh. mspindler (301), Alta Loma, California, USA Jan 10, 2009 Another one DuffmanSW was trying to get rid of. 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear reddish copper, no head. Aroma is cotton candy and vanilla jellybeans. Tastes like vanilla extract and old stale candy. Some sourness is the only thing that really makes this resemble beer. Thin bodied. Might not be bad over a scoop of ice cream, but I can easily say this will be my first and last bottle. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jan 6, 2009 Bottle thanks to Butters. Caramel orange with a thin off white head. Light smoky aroma, bourbon, malt, and vanilla. Taste is tons of vanilla, thin woody and smoke. The vanilla is nice but unbalanced. FunkyBrewster (437), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 6, 2009 Pours clear brown with a red hue and a small off-whit e froth. Aroma is very heavy on the vanilla and sweet caramel malts. Very sugary and almost no hops, just way too much vanilla. Flavor starts with some mild bread like sweetness. Gains a slightly astringent bitter grainy flavoring before being hit hard being more vanilla bean through the finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not terrible as some people seem to think but way unbalanced and not too big of a presence. This is a nice beer for someone who drinks Bud but wants a season version. ScoWRee (275), Phila, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 4, 2009 Pours an opaqe golden reddish color with a thick tan foamy head. Aroma of yeast and vanilla. Taste of vanilla and is very watery. Not much going on here. jmw141 (134), Canton, Illinois, USA Jan 3, 2009 12 oz. bottle pour into shaker. Never had bourbon, so I’m not sure what to look for here.
Pours dark orange/amber with a thin, fizzy head. Clear.
Malty aroma, sweet. Slight bourbon and lots of vanilla. Cherry in the nose too.
Very sweet. Vanilla bean flavor. Seems slightly artificial due to how strong it is. Very drinkable, but maybe too sweet. No hops character to balance it out.
Light, watery mouthfeel.
Flavorful and fun. Worth a try for sure, but don’t expect anything amazing here. Props to AMBEV for always trying something new.
smjohnst (202), , Pennsylvania, USA Jan 2, 2009 Very disappointed in this one. You could definitely taste the vanilla afterwards but I couldnt get anything else out of it.
