gbdub (73), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA Dec 31, 2008 Purs red amber, relatively clear, with a thin tan head. Nose is malty with some vanilla and spice. Flavor is light, as others have mentioned, with a little bit of hoppy finish. Vanilla and a little spice are the most interesting notes in the flavor. The bourbon is faint, but it and the vanilla get more pronounced as the beer warms. Rather thin. BeerVirgin72 (778), Pataskala, Ohio, USA Dec 29, 2008 I had this on tap at the hospitality area of Sea World, Orlando. Served in a plastic cup, so lost points on appearance and aroma. With that said, on tap, this is actually a good attempt for the masses. A bit watered down for the likes of most of us, but very drinkable for non beer folks. And it was free. So, you know. Extra points for free beer. Always. ScottB (73), Bristow, Virginia, USA Dec 29, 2008 Draught at a local restaurant. Annoyingly sweet. Not one I would try again. hrking (108), Muncie, Indiana, USA Dec 28, 2008 Pours a caramel malt red with a off white head that dissipates into a small retention. Not much to the nose maybe some vanilla a little acidic. Flavor does not show much in the way of oak or bourbon but the vanilla does linger on the pallette. Smooth and drinkable but nothing special.Different but a nice try from one of the big brother brews realizing the craft beer scene is winning over. Taste does change as it warms.Becomes a little creamier. thehoff (567), Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA Dec 25, 2008 From my father in law. Weird beer from Michelob. No real flavor at all and then the Vanilla hits you. Nice try but Michelob should stick to lagers. bkurtz (276), Peru Dec 25, 2008 Poured clear red with a quickly dimishing head. Hint of malt and bourbon, light without much going on. Not offensive, but not much there. DId not realize it was as AB product until I took a sip. At least they are trying. Maybe InBev will help them. Strykzone (1458), Wood River, Illinois, USA Dec 23, 2008 A caramel colored beer with a nose also of caramel along with vanilla and a bit of spice. Flavor is a disappointment. It offers very little caramel and only a dash of vanilla. Wood is the most dominant flavor theme and even that is faint. There is bourbon in here? Warming helped some but not enough. Earlier Rating: 11/24/2007 Total Score: 2.8 Body is clear amber in color with medium carbonation. Head is thin and white and does not hang around long. Aroma is lightly malty and pleasant. First taste is bolder than expected and grabs you with a malt / wood flavor. It soon settles into a sweet spiced vanilla beer. I don’t catch bourbon at all. Feel is almost syrupy. This beer is interesting but, as usual, the attempt to be slick by AB causes the product to suffer. EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Dec 23, 2008 Bottle. Lightly woody, mocha-tinged nose with some nice vanilla wafting, though the overall effect is like syrup added to sodapop. Deep orange-amber pour with a clingy beige-tan head. Taste of corn and grain is strong enough to overwhelm anything else they try to add, and the syrupy corn aftertaste is just as bad. Thin-bodied slop.
