Some acidity. Right upfront this brew has a nice vanilla flavor going on. Fairly bitter roasted malty flavor. Finish is a little lacking, but not bad. sebletitje (1986), Tampa, Florida, USA

Hit or miss? I’d lean toward the miss, although I appreciate their attempt.
Pours copper with tan head.
Aroma is filled with vanilla and really faint touch of bourbon.
Taste. I was expecting something innovative, and instead the beer kept the signature Michelob.
Nonetheless, the beer did have some wood characteristics with a very faint touch of the bourbon. Additional malts and just a load of vanilla. They did manage to capture the thick mouthfeel of the cask.
Not a bad beer, just poorly crafted. Seems the bourbon flavor was flooded by the vanilla.

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jan 23, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours a crystal clear red with a thin head that disappeared after a few sips. Light but pleasant aroma of vanilla, malt, and a touch of bourbon. Flavor is also on the light side but pleasant with vanilla and caramel out front and a hint of bourbon lurking in the background. A bit thin and a little too sugary. This combination of ingredients could result in a splendid beer. I think this beer is a step in the right direction but falls a bit short. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 19, 2006 Odd aroma reminded me of bud but poured a darker carmel color w/ a nice little head on it. Palate was fairly decent, some ok coating, and things. Flavor was a pleasant surprise much better than expected some rice notes but a good amounts of carmel and some light vanillas in the finish. I really didn’t pick up much of the bourbon barrelling. Slick (1962), Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Nov 25, 2006 Gotta end the evening with this little gem ;^) dark amber brown color, small off white head that had a decent hangtime then faded slowly to leave a bit of a lace behind. The aroma was malty and caramel with maybe a bit of a vanilla side and a hint of bourbon ...possibly.Well you do manage to get some vanilla thoughout the tasting which is nice and not overly done which is even more surprising, coming from these guys. There is a nice malty side in the beginning and middle with a mild hint of oak and bourbon in there as well. The alcohol manages to make it’s presence known but only mildly until the end where it rears it head in a slightly more noticeable hint.Over all i’d have to say they finally came close but still it’s nothing special but it’s worth the 6-pack just for the hell of it. scraff (1955), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 15, 2006 Clear dark amber, thin fizzy tan head. Faint nose of vanilla fruitiness, toasted grains, and toffee. More vanilla flavor throughout, slightly grainy, with a very soft bitterness rounding it out. Light bodied, fizzy carbonation, dry vanilla finish. Kind of vanilla overkill going on. If you had a bit more bourbony and oak notes, you actually might have had something special here.... fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 29, 2006 Draft at San Diego Brewing Company. Aromas were very malty with some vanilla. Flavors were more malts with a strong and lasting vanilla finish. Very slight hop character here. Bourbon? Must have missed it. Not too bad really phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Apr 21, 2008 A tad sweet for its style in my opinion, and noticeably unbalanced. It poured a bright reddish copper colour with a large fluffy almond coloured head. Aroma is slightly nutty and sweet, with a light, well carbonated off sweet taste.
