Taste is heavy with vanilla, light oak, some of the caramel is there, mainly heavy on the vanilla. It’s not bad, but the vanilla is overdone. jeffc666 (1895), Fairfax, Virginia, USA

The aroma is first vanilla then cherry and some light caramel. The cherry aroma gets stronger as it warms. The flavor is sickly vanilla, no real wood character just vanilla. The sweetness is all vanilla. Drinks like a vanilla soda. Not very good. Beerdedone (1885), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 2, 2007 On draft at Just Sports. Pours deep amber with an off white small head. Aroma of spices, sweet malts, slight bourbon, and vanilla. The flavor is sweet, vanilla, toast, but lacks any bite. Decent brew. DrnkMcDermott (1859), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 7/20 | Mar 15, 2007 Bottle, "Born On 06JAN07." First impression is a nice smell of bourbon and vanilla, but after awhile, it drizzles away to an impression of artificial vanilla flavoring in alcohol. Pours dark brown, little or no head. Taste shows the same artificial vanilla flavor, totally unolike any other vanilla flavored beer I’ve had. Overly carbonated, yet with the watery mouthfeel of root beer flavored Fizzies. Saccharine to boot. A lot of overdone flavors that might have been helped by a higher abv. You’d think a brewer whose biggest sellers were "beechwood aged" might be able to barrel aged beers a little better. Label looks like a Spuds MacKenzie version of last year’s <a href="http://ratebeer.com/beer/samuel-smiths- Smith Winter Welcome label. | 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Dec 5, 2006 Terrible terrible beer. This was almost a drain pour. I bought this not knowing it was made by AB- tastes like it tho. Terrible alcohol taste with a SLIGHTLY vanilla flavor. I would drink a Bud over this. thegreenrooster (1842), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 7, 2006 Pour is a light brown with a nice sixed white head. Aroma is deffinatly vanilla with a bit of wood smokyness in there. Flavor is super vanilla with a odd creamyness. I agree with the rater that compared this with a cream soda. Still this is kinda tasty to have just one an evening. SDbruboy (1832), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 18, 2007 12 oz. bottle courtesy of DarkElf. If I didn’t know it was an AB product, I wouldn’t have recognized it as such. Pours dark copper color with a large white head. Aroma is heavy with the spices, caramel malts and barrel notes, a little grassy and grainy as well. Flavor is initially sweet, with lots of spice, some vanilla and an occasional odd bitter floral note. Medium body and gentle carbonation. Not bad.
