On tap at the Emmitt House in Waverly OH. Clear amber color with a small beige head. Weak caramel and vanilla aroma. Flavor of caramel, some fruits and lots of vanilla at the finish. I didn’t know it was A-B until I looked it up here, and I expected from a "bourbon cask ale."

Amber/copper, with a tan head. Aroma is malt, vanilla, and sugar. Flavor is sugar and vanilla. Almost more like soda than beer. Just not very good.

Clear, copper appearance with a small white head and scant lacing. Sweet, caramel malt aroma interlaced with vanilla. Taste is sweet as well; vanilla is there, but little evidence of bourbon or oak (bark maybe). Well carbonated, but thin on the palate. Finish falls apart; sour, gummy and short lived.

Brown bottle, 341 ml, blind tasted, gift from Mario D’Eer received on savoured on January 19, savoured on January 21 2009; eye: bronze, extra clear, good effervescence, champagne-style beige head that falls and turns into a tiny ring, no lacing; nose: caramel malt, light fruity, light hops, vanilla extract, slight perfume; mouth: light malt, layer of caramel, light hops, finale in caramel malt with a hint of hops, vanilla extract appears after the finale, vanilla becomes more and more present as the beer warms, a bit thin, medium body, rather carbonated, foamy texture, rather sweet, lightly bitter; overall: ordinary but it is always “stressful” to rate a beer in blind tasting FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, 341 ml, dégustée à l’aveugle, cadeau de Mario D’Eer reçu le 19 janvier 2009, savourée le 21 janvier 2009; œil : bronze, extra claire, bonne effervescence, mousse beige style champagne qui tombe plutôt rapidement et se transforme en un petit anneau, pas de dentelle; nez : malt caramel, léger fruité, léger houblon, extrait de vanille, très léger parfum; bouche : léger malt, filet de caramel, houblon, finale en malt caramel avec une petite pointe de houblon, apparition d’extrait de vanille après la finale, vanille devient de plus en plus présente à mesure que la bière se réchauffe, un peu mince, corps moyen, plutôt carbonatée, texture mousseuse, plutôt sucrée, légèrement amère; en résumé : ordinaire mais c’est toujours « stressant » de noter une bière à l’aveugle!

Pours a deep amber, no head. Aroma of a Scottish Ale - very malty with a teeny bit of hop. Vanilla flavor up front with a malty finish. Not bad.

On tap at Taco Mac. This reminded me of a flat vanilla flavored coke. Caramel, sugar, vanilla all predominate. Lots of carbonation. I did not realize this was an AB product and it’s nice to see them at least make something that doesn’t taste like piss. As far as beer goes though this one is just ok. As I said I get more coke flavors than beer flavors.

Meh. a sample from tap. A nice amber hue with a thin tan head which had nice lacing. Aroma was mainly of corn and some bourbon, flavor was similar. Nothing too exciting, but not terrible either. Very lacking though.
