| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 3, 2009 Leather nose. Clear copper pour with a medium tan head. Flavor is of leather and caramel malt. Cherry finish. Alcohol becomes intrusive upon warming. Nice twist on a red ale. Not very dynamic, but it’s enjoyable. desurfer (1069), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Dec 28, 2007 Light reddish gold body, little head. Faint vanilla aroma. Pretty much tasteless aside from a cloying, artificial sweetness and a slight hint of nutmeg. This sucks, even before I figured out it’s an AB product. jb (1059), Rochester, New York, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 7, 2006 Dark orange-red stuff. I detected little in the way of aroma other than a pleasant malty smell. This was sorta in the vein of a scotch ale I thought. Smoky palate along with malt and wee bourbon taste and sugary finish. Different and good. alobar (1051), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 9, 2007 A gift from my sister’s boyfriend. Now I’m not sure that he likes me. Pours a nice clear copper color with minimal head. Strange aroma-sweet-vanillla with malts. Taste was malty with vanilla-more like vanilla extract than beans. Watery malts finished the concoction. Enjoyed the last sip-mostly because the beer was finished. pootzboy (1048), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 1, 2007 On draught @ Busch Gardens Tampa,Fl. Poured a clear copper with small but long lasting head. Aroma of caramel, wood, vanilla. Has a sweet caramel and vanilla flavor with hints of wood and a touch of bourbon. Very little hop bitterness. Not bad for AB. I thought it was better on draught than bottle. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 13, 2008 Born on 10/19/07, the nearly 7 months in the bottle may have done this beer some good as it came off as nicely blended and aged. A familiar yet strange aroma of bread, vanilla, and milk with a faint sour tinge. Light amber pour with a thin swirling head and spots of lacing. Mellow and creamy on the palate with a pleasant finish and good aftertaste. Pretty good in the flavor department. Doughy malt and sugar cookies are tasted. The vanilla is well integrated, comes off as just the right amount. A sweet beer with some holiday spiciness. Calm and enjoyable. I may seek this one out for next year’s release to try it fresh.
