Commercial Description:
During even the coldest of weather, warm up to the smooth, robust taste of our Winter’s Bourbon Cask Ale. Full of rich aromas that you find in the winter months, hints of vanilla and flavorful hops, this is a beer that is great for pouring into a large tulip glass and enjoying with friends around a fireplace.

Amber in color. Boozy and vanilla aroma. Very sweet up front. Some might find it cloying, but I have a sweet tooth so its no big deal. Caramel and malt are present plus a big dose of vanilla. Perhaps a bit artificial. Drank a bit like a Captain Morgan and Coke. Body was thin. I will at least give the A-B team some credit for trying something different.

Horrible. Tasted like a cookie. This is not what a winter beer is suppose to taste like. Had no idea it was AB’s beer. I really wanted to get into this beer but couldn’t. This was like eating a vanilla wafer.

On tap. Pours a medium brown color with a small off white head. Aroma of vanilla extract and smoked wood. Taste is funky and artificial. Not good!

Poured from bottle (1/2008). Vanilla dominates aroma. Looks like cream soda - head disappears fast. Oh jeez - tastes like cream soda too at first, with a weirdly sour aftertaste. Has feel of - you guessed it - cream soda - thin and sugary and bubbly. Finished badly - enough to cause tooth decay. Oh well, screwed by AB again.

Pours amber with a small off white head. Aroma is malty with hints of vanilla. Seems to have alot less vanilla bean taste than one I had last year at a bar, but still has a malty taste with a hint of vanilla in the background. A decent beer.

Twist-off bottle, undated. Pours a clear Mahogany red with a solid tan head. Oaky, malty aromas. Light-to-medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Early toffee character. Caramel flavor dominates. Sweet flavor balance. Subtly vanilla notes. Very late oak dry finish.

woody, dark, sweet, vanilla, not sure what I am drinking here, not totally unpleasant, yet I think I can’t see drinking more than one per session

Sample only. Way too sweet. Another AB attempt at brewing a decent beer. This one falls way short. The organic hoppy ale is still my favorite of thier attempts. Don’t drink this unless you like to put chocolate sauce in your beer.
