MUch more caramel in the beer now, and a nice lingering vanilla caramel aftertaste. No more metallica finish. Very clean solid beer with a nice body, slightly watery on the back end. This gets dumped on cause of its association with AB but I actually like this alot as a session beer during the holidays. Delirium (498), Santa Cruz, California, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 12, 2006 Updated: Apr 23, 2007Bottle. Pours copper with a moderate white head. Aroma is sweet vanilla and bourbon. Flavor is initially almost exactly like vanilla extract. After adjusting a bit, it gets slightly more complex, adding some caramel malt, bourbon, and faint woodiness. Initially seemed strong on the vanilla; by the end seemed strong on the bourbon. Moderately interesting and better than I expected from A-B, but really unbalanced. MadMan (497), Tempe, Arizona, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 23, 2007 Bottle. Pours a medium brown with thin head. Aroma is full of caramel malt, some vanilla. Flavor is on the sweeter side, malty, mostly caramel, and strongly vanilla. Slightly buttery as well, with only just the faintest hint of oak, if any. This one should be called vanilla ale. Not really all that bad considering the brewer. scoobyluv (486), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 25, 2007 very much the taste of vanilla extract which is kinda weird for a beer. but considering it’s anheuser busch, i can’t expect too much. but it was good considering the makers. the best of the AB bunch so far which ain’t saying much FunkyBrewster (486), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jan 6, 2009 Pours clear brown with a red hue and a small off-whit e froth. Aroma is very heavy on the vanilla and sweet caramel malts. Very sugary and almost no hops, just way too much vanilla. Flavor starts with some mild bread like sweetness. Gains a slightly astringent bitter grainy flavoring before being hit hard being more vanilla bean through the finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not terrible as some people seem to think but way unbalanced and not too big of a presence. This is a nice beer for someone who drinks Bud but wants a season version. wheninhell (486), louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 1.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 4/20 | Jan 11, 2007 amber with a disappearing off white head.......hmmm basically budweiser and cream soda had a love child. it smells like the making of the child. it tastes like what was left of the sheets after the making of the child..... i guess the bourbon barrel and the vanilla bean were trying to watch tv in the next room over and somehow there good names got mixed up in this imitation vanilla crap beer train wreck. light and fizzy. not worth your time. biggmike (480), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 30, 2008 Poured a clear brown amber color with small white head that dissipated quickly. Aroma was of bourbon and vanilla. Flavor was also of bourbon, vanilla, and some spice. Mouthfeel was a bit on the thin side. Drinkability was okay. Not the best beer, but I applaud Anheuser-Busch for making the effort.

A tad on the sweet side but with a moderately complex palate of vanilla and smoke. The syrupy aftertaste reminds me more of a soda than a brew, but a hell of a lot better than most macrobrewed shlock.
