Some acidity. Right upfront this brew has a nice vanilla flavor going on. Fairly bitter roasted malty flavor. Finish is a little lacking, but not bad. goldtwins (4086), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 16, 2007 Poured a just slightly hazed deep amber color with a large off-white head. Malty aroma of toffee and caramel with light vanilla and I guess you can say bourbon. Mostly just malt and vanilla. The flavor was malty with toffee notes and an artificial vanilla taste. Crisp finish with some warmth at the end. freekyp (906), Thomasville, North Carolina, USA

The aroma has a prominent vanilla character, but no bourbon, as the bottle might suggest. Lightly toasted caramel malts and a bit of hop bite have their way with your tongue before the beer settles into a strong vanilla finish. Softly carbonated. presario (3010), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 6, 2009 Dark amber. Light head. Araoma of vanilla, alcohol a little funky but pleasant. Grows on you like the flavour which starts a bit muddled with lots of vanilla, caramel and bourbon? Needs a stronger beer base. It is an interesting blend. pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 1, 2006 Body is a ruby brown with no head. Aroma is caramel, oak, vanilla, and chocoalte. Taste is heavy with vanilla, light oak, some of the caramel is there, mainly heavy on the vanilla. It’s not bad, but the vanilla is overdone. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Clear amber color. Slight vanilla nose. Light-medium carbonation and light-medium bodied. Flavor is sweet, smooth vanilla and some hops, kind of like a vanilla coke without the fizz but with hops. Not like any cask ale I have tasted, no hints of bourbon. $1.75 for a 12oz from Barb’s Beer Emporium Concord, NH.

From my mug, I can smell an amount of vanilla, and a very slight yeasty smell that may be similar to yeasts that produces strong citrus flavors.
In tasting this, the citrus flavor comes out stronger than the vanilla. But these two flavors overpower the hint a hint of malt. There is no hop in the taste at all.
The beer is a beautiful red color, with a very slight head of white foam.
It’s not a bad beer, and drinkable up to about two bottles. But the strong, sweet vanilla taste is what limits the amount I could drink in a sitting
