Commercial Description:
During even the coldest of weather, warm up to the smooth, robust taste of our Winter’s Bourbon Cask Ale. Full of rich aromas that you find in the winter months, hints of vanilla and flavorful hops, this is a beer that is great for pouring into a large tulip glass and enjoying with friends around a fireplace.

Small tan head that settles out quickly, lacing is spotty. Clear, deep amber color. Surprisingly attractive! Nose of vanilla and cherry cough medicine. Body is med/light somewhat creamy. Vanilla extract flavor dominates. No bourbon flavor or oak to really speak of. Maybe a hint of caramel malt. Lightly sweet, candyish flavors of vanilla and cherry. Finish is almost dry, thin and vanilla-y. Luckily i did,nt have to drop a $1.75 on this as a friend from work turned me on to one. Thanks Tommy!

A-B, are you serious?
The beer looks nice in the glass, kudos! The aroma is ridiculously contrived and the flavor is an over the top fabrication! Smells and taste like “bananas foster” vanilla extract garbage. The palate is thin and the finish tastes like a cheap McDonalds dessert.

Bottle. Pours copper with a thin white head. Nose is a little funky, sweet. Taste is of a little vanilla and marshmellow, not much bourbon. Not horrible, but something that I’m not looking forward to the rest of the 6 pack.

Pretty funky appearance actually. An odd reddish pour with a thin tan head. Vanilla aroma with some alcohol and vegetable in there as well. Highly carbonated, medium-bodied I guess. Strong, sticky sweetness. Caramel. Finish reveals what could be a decent malt presence if it weren’t for all the vanilla and booze. Not very good.

12 oz bottle, born on 11/10/06. Pours a clear reddish amber with a fine light tan head that leaves some lacing.

The aroma is subtle - sweet vanilla and some tar.

The flavor is pretty subtle as well. It is mostly vanilla with a little bit of a spicy hop finish. It has a strange kind of tarry vegetal aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium and a bit watery.

Overall, an interesting concept for AB, but a little off. It is pretty bland and watery with some off-flavors.

Don’t ask me why, but I poured this at about 55-60 degrees. I know, I know. Stupid mistake. This was absolute shit. An aroma of vanilla extract and soap. Appearance was a crystal clear dark mahogany brown, with a nice head with zero lacing. Mouthfeel was average, nothing bad there. Flavor was like drinking watery vanilla extract WITH the alcohol finish. I will rerate when I try this again nearly ice cold, which is the way ANY AB product should be served. RE-RATE: Well, I let this one nearly get to freezing temps and gave it a go. The finish is much better and the vanilla isn’t so fake in the aroma and taste but of course the cold convers everything up. What it really reminded me of was some sort of amalgamation of a cream soda and a beer.

Stumbled across a six pack of this at the local supermarket, so being the ratings whore that I am, I decided to pick up a sixer and give this a try. Pours an amber color with a thin white head. The aroma is dominated by the vanilla beans, with only the bourbon barrel breaking thru on the finish of the beer. Too bad this wasn’t sold in singles, because now I’m giving away the other fiver beers. This wasn’t worth the effort.

12 oz- Pours a nice reddish orange. Unfortunately, that is the only thing good about this beer. Too much vanilla. Very bland.
