Commercial Description:
During even the coldest of weather, warm up to the smooth, robust taste of our Winter’s Bourbon Cask Ale. Full of rich aromas that you find in the winter months, hints of vanilla and flavorful hops, this is a beer that is great for pouring into a large tulip glass and enjoying with friends around a fireplace.

I had this beer on tap and I loved it. Then, I bought a six pack and I hated it. You really need to get it on tap. The flavors don’t translate in a bottle. It has very similar characteristics to cream soda. I enjoyed the strong vanilla flavor.

Probably the best A-B beer I’ve had. It poured a 1.25 (I have smallish hands) finger tan head and, oops! Where the hell did it go? At least the beer itself looked alright, with a rich, dark copper colour. All I oculd discern about the aroma was malt, but my nose is not the best for this sort of work. The taste was again malt with perhaps something else going on in the background, but the "it" was too faint to define. The mouthfeel was quite right, likewise the aftertaste. I’ve have this again.

Gotta end the evening with this little gem ;^) dark amber brown color, small off white head that had a decent hangtime then faded slowly to leave a bit of a lace behind. The aroma was malty and caramel with maybe a bit of a vanilla side and a hint of bourbon ...possibly.Well you do manage to get some vanilla thoughout the tasting which is nice and not overly done which is even more surprising, coming from these guys. There is a nice malty side in the beginning and middle with a mild hint of oak and bourbon in there as well. The alcohol manages to make it’s presence known but only mildly until the end where it rears it head in a slightly more noticeable hint.Over all i’d have to say they finally came close but still it’s nothing special but it’s worth the 6-pack just for the hell of it.

Had this on tap at the Neenah, WI Holiday Inn. The bartender thought it was brewed by Stevens Point Brewery but alas, he was mistaken. At any rate, this wasn’t too bad. It poured a crystalline deep amber with a sizable off-white head. Faint whiff of vanilla in the aroma with some nuttiness. First taste is moderate malt with overtones of vanilla wafers & yes, a smidgen of bourbon. The tastes get more pronounced as the beer warms. Very smooth & creamy mouthfeel. Maybe a little too subtle to be a "winter warmer" but nonetheless, a decent brew.

12oz bottle. Bottle had a white label with ’Sample Ale, Not for Sale’ on it. Poured a deeper copper, almost brown color (clear) with an averaged sized off white head. My initial thought when I smelled this was vanilla ice cream (actually getting hungry for some!). Other aromas of caramel and very light oak. I didn’t find the aromas as offensive as most people (granted the vanilla aspect is overboard, but just the thought of vanilla ice cream, yummy). Tastes of wood, vanilla (a lot lighter than the aroma), light roast, and light caramel. Thin body. Maybe my ’sample batch’ was different than the commercial batch, but for a Busch beer, this was quite drinkable.

On draught at Hooters in Nashua, NH. (I was there for the wings, honest). Anyway, not too bad, lacking in some texture. The vanilla flavor overwhelmed the taste of the malt. This beer would have been very good, instead of merely good, if the spice was added with a more even hand.

Multiple pints on draught in one of their large tulip glasses made for this beer. Pours amber with a decent white head. Smells of roses, touches of vanilla, hints of citrus and bourbon, some nuts and biscuits. Tastes of caramel, nuts, some roses, touches of fruit. No woody elements to speak of. Mouthfeel is hearty and the finish is sweet with some earthy tones. Tastes like an ESB to me. Very drinkable but don’t go to this one looking of a big bold bourbon barrel beer with hints of sherry as that’s just not present in this one.
