Dec 18, 2006 On tap, poured a semi-clear crimson with little head. Smells lightly of vanilla and tastes distinctly of the same. It actually tastes light vanilla yoghurt. I thought this was a pretty good one, but am pretty disappointed now that I find out it’s A-B.

It’s more vanilla than bourbon and I’m sure there’s nothing ’cask’ about it..but it’s a guilty pleasure and it’s a good value for the money. Dont listen to the snobs, this is not as bad as they are making it out.

Feb 1, 2007 Poured carmel colored with an average light brown head. Smelled and looked inviting. Taste stands head and shoulders above Bud and the like.

Dec 9, 2008 Amber in color. Boozy and vanilla aroma. Very sweet up front. Some might find it cloying, but I have a sweet tooth so its no big deal. Caramel and malt are present plus a big dose of vanilla. Perhaps a bit artificial. Drank a bit like a Captain Morgan and Coke. Body was thin. I will at least give the A-B team some credit for trying something different.

Dec 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours clear red with a large frothy white head that deminishes quickly. Smells a little spicy and malty sweet. Tastes like aloit of toffee and very sweet. Some hints of cinnamin. Has a little bit of cask aged flavor. Pretty good beer.

Dec 6, 2009 12 oz bottle. Very vanilla in aroma. Bourbon is faint. Also, cinnamon. Pours amber with minimal head, mediocre lacing. Extreme vanilla flavor. Very yummy, very different. Kind of watery, though. Lacks depth. Goes downhill with every drink. Gets more and more watery; especially so after half glass. Looks completely flat with no lacing halfway through. Weird beer--never have I ranked a beer so high in aroma and flavor, yet so low in appearance and palate, and then an average overall.

Jan 21, 2006 On tap at the Emmitt House in Waverly OH. Clear amber color with a small beige head. Weak caramel and vanilla aroma. Flavor of caramel, some fruits and lots of vanilla at the finish. I didn’t know it was A-B until I looked it up here, and I expected from a "bourbon cask ale."

Jul 27, 2006 Draft. Ruby amber beer with a nice off-white head. Vanilla aroma with some sweet malt. Big vanilla and oak flavor with light bourbon and some caramel sweetness. Easy drinking. LOTS of vanilla.
