Can definitely notice the vanilla and bourbon effects. Decent stuff. HopBackDoc (395), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA

Vanilla and oak in the nose, no real trace of bourbon. Flavor hits you with the vanilla followed by malts and caramel. Creamy and mellow, easy drinking. Worth a try, but I wouldn’t buy a whole case.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 13, 2008 Born on 10/19/07, the nearly 7 months in the bottle may have done this beer some good as it came off as nicely blended and aged. A familiar yet strange aroma of bread, vanilla, and milk with a faint sour tinge. Light amber pour with a thin swirling head and spots of lacing. Mellow and creamy on the palate with a pleasant finish and good aftertaste. Pretty good in the flavor department. Doughy malt and sugar cookies are tasted. The vanilla is well integrated, comes off as just the right amount. A sweet beer with some holiday spiciness. Calm and enjoyable. I may seek this one out for next year’s release to try it fresh. emerica56 (585), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 11, 2009 This beer pours a clear amber color with a thin head that fades rather quick. The aroma is subtle and kind of malty with some hints of hops but nothing strong. the flavor is kind of sweet and full of caramel malt and toffee. There is some good carbonation and for a cask ale it is not that bad. there are much better spice herb beers out there but this one is surprisingly good. Boliv (203), New York, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Bottle. Poured copper-colored with a twinge of ruby and a medium off-white head. Aromas of vanilla, roasty malt, caramel, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Flavor is vanilla upfront, mostly sweet malts, and a slight bitter finish. Medium body. No bourbon present as far as I can tell, which is too bad. Not nearly as bad as I had expected. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA

MUch more caramel in the beer now, and a nice lingering vanilla caramel aftertaste. No more metallica finish. Very clean solid beer with a nice body, slightly watery on the back end. This gets dumped on cause of its association with AB but I actually like this alot as a session beer during the holidays. bigguns22 (111), Maryland, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 28, 2009 12 oz. bottle- Pours amber with little head, aroma is suprisingly nonexistent. The flavor is pretty good, It has a nice vanilla flavor, but it lacks depth, if they would just stop watering down beers like this they would be excellent. Blue Moon has the same problem with their seasonals, creative idea, but to appeal to the masses they feel the need to lighten it up. Thats why true craft beer drinkers never want to buy their product.
